eBay caution, again

One fool in the UK got four things wrong, most of them contradictions within the ad.
- x40 vs x41
- 1.40GHz vs 1.50GHz
- memory 1GB vs 1.5GB
- the 1.5GB case was supposedly made of three of 512MB sticks (impossible in an x41 which has 512MB soldered in and one module slot to add memory, 1GB total was common)

The listing was titled x41 but my guess is that the computer is probably an x40.

Typical copy and paste problem I suppose, plus vendor not familiar with product.

I just asked for a pic of the specs in the BIOS before buying mine.

Yes, and asking the seller to confirm the type model and system serial number so you can do a parts lookup (if BIOS photo is from BIOS main page this information will be there).

I did have one person thank me for pointing out a contradiction between picture and ad, expensive SW product (like Microsoft Project and Visio).

One extra word of caution. When I bought my T500 on Ebay I thought I was being smart by looking up the code on the bottom. Well, a lot of parts had been replaced on the T500 with factory fresh items, including the keyboard, palm rest, and the entire lid/screen unit! The palm rest and keyboard were nice touches, but the screen, although LED backlit, was 1280x800 instead of 1680x1050, and it didn't come with a webcam.
