VGA To HDTV Turned Pink!
Thanks for reading about my problem!
I've got a T400 IBM Laptop. I use the VGA cable to hook my Vizio HDTV to my IBM. I unhook/hookup this laptop/Vizio a lot. The other day the Vizio went pink, lost all color except the pink hue. DVD's and using the youtube app on the Vizio looks perfect. So I searched everywhere within the Windows 7 OS and the TV's software looking for a fix.....none to be found.
So I bought a new VGA cable hoping the other one was bad. No way, the pink hue is still there.
Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!!
PLEASE HELP........

Are we correct to assume the laptops internal display is still OK?
How does it look when connected to an external computer monitor?

Re: VGA To HDTV Turned Pink!
Welcome to thinkpads.com!
While the normal reason why a display goes "pink" is due to a bad/fading CCFL backlight in the display panel, this does not seem to be the case here. If DVDs and video sources other than what goes through the VGA port play okay, then the problem lies elsewhere. Replacing the cable was a good try, but the issue could be in either piece of hardware. I'm assuming that both the T400 and the TV have a "female" VGA port. As that's usually the standard, then there's no chance that some of the pins inside the port are bent (there aren't any pins).
You should try connecting another computer to the TV's VGA port and see if you still get the pink screen. If you don't then the T400 may be to blame. To verify, connect the T400 to another TV/monitor. By doing this you should be able to figure out where the problem is.

Re: VGA To HDTV Turned Pink!
Thanks for the quick reply....Due to a major medical problem I'm stuck in my lounge chair most all day and night. I say that because that is the reason I'm unable to trouble shoot further.
A couple of question for you if you don't mind:
1) Do you think it was a mistake to hook the laptop to the TV while both were powered up?
2) I suspect its my laptop. If it is my laptop, what needs to be replaced?
Thanks for your time.....Paul

Re: VGA To HDTV Turned Pink!
Probably a loose connection somewhere inside the laptop or TV. If you disconnect it often, a docking station would be the way to go.
