How do I stop my T410 going to "idle" after 20 seconds?

#1 Post by GaltGeo » Mon Jan 17, 2011 10:20 pm

Hi I am a newbie here - just a got T410 and it keeps on going to idle after about 20 secs. I have tried to change settings but I cannot find the idle (standby?) setting.

Help

Please explain 'idle' better'. Does the screen blank out only, or does the entire machine go into standby (fans off, power off) with the half moon LED lit?

it switches to the user log in screen after about 1 minute and I have to re-enter password. No sleeping moon, fans stay on...

At that point is the screensaver on or is the LCD blank?

The LCD is not blank - it has the log-on / switch user screen

In control panel, under system and security, power options, require a password when the computer wakes, change settings that are currently unavailable, check 'don't require a password'. Also in control panel, appearance and personalization, personalization, screen saver, uncheck 'on resume display logon screen'. In Power manager, power plan, idle timers, set 'turn off display' to 'never'.

If that ends up not being the issue,is this a corporate laptop? That sounds like a security policy setting that the screen locks after a certain amount of time to protect corporate data if you walked away.
