I have an x60 tablet, and got os x running FINALLY on this machine. I am running 10.6.3, and used the following guide:

I cannot get the trackpoint or pen for tablet working. I have gone through that entire thread and followed each message.

For the trackpoint, I read that you need to "delete the trackpad kext inside ApplePS2 kext," and I am not sure about the tablet. But Sebinouse and others say that they got the trackpad and tablet to work.

I am not sure how to work with the kext files. I am totally new to mac, so I have no idea how kexts "work" or how I am supposed to use them. So I want to experiment to get thing working on this machine, but I am not sure what steps to take.

So could anybody give me a brief exxplanation of how to properly use kexts?

If I want to "start over" with my kext config, should I delete the Extras folder, and then replace it with the Extras folder provided in that thread? And then run pfix or Kextutility?

Also, if there is a beginner's guide on kexts that would be useful too.

Well I didn't get an reply here. I can see that this forum is not very active. If someone could direct me to a site that is more active on the topic of "os x on thinkpads" I would appreciate it.

I got the tablet working; using Tablet Magic, even the pressure sensitivity works. If anyone has any specific questions about how I got that working, I'll be happy to respond.

I also got the trackpoint working. I had to place ApplePS2Controller.kext into the S/L/E folder and then run pfix. For some reason it would not work with that kext in the /Extra folder, I have no idea why, but I did get it working.

The middle button scrolling does not work, the middle button just behaves like a 3 button mouse. But you can try "Smart Scroll," a program that handles this, and it seems to be working quite well.

Only thing I have yet to get working on my Thinkpad X60 Tablet model is the SDHC reader. I am sure I can tinker with that in the future, but I have usb readers for all that. So for now I am super happy to have a fully functional OS X machine. It is Snow Leopard, and cannot really be updated to Lion because the processor is CoreDuo, which is only 32 bit not 64. So I am stuck on Snow Leopard. Kind of limits what programs I can install; sometimes I have to look for old versions of software that will run on Snow Leopard... But the machine runs quite well. I would recommend a Thinkpad X61 for anyone that is looking for a machine that has an integrated tablet/digitizer and wants to run OS X. The X61 has 64 bit Core2Duo, so more chances for update.
