Ah I see, that you got success on a T61-intel. Here's my files for T61-nvidia and T61p. Just use it with myhack and everything should work fine. ;)

I've assembled my NVS140M Frankenpad now, verified the machine with Vista and flashed the Middleton BIOS.

I used my Mavericks ProBook Hackintosh to create the MyHack installer on an 8GB USB key, and now I'm trying to start the install.

What boot/start parameters do you use? My install hangs on the second grey screen (past the first Apple logo screen) with a spinning beach ball.

I finally got a chance to try out the T61 with NVS140M and 4:3 14.1" screen using the DSDT=No command at boot. Sleep works perfectly with that command in place bypassing the DSDT. Of course, a few other things stop working, such as:

1. Screen brightness controls no longer work
2. Battery meter no longer works properly
3. It's odd, but it almost seems like there is a tiny bit of lag between typing a character and it showing on the screen.

Working:

• Startup/Shutdown
  Display brightness via slider in System Preferences
  Sleep/Wake - one time only the pointer froze on wake, and I restarted the machine
  Sound: Internal microphone does not survive sleep/wake, Logitech microphone does, Headphones work, speakers work. Hardware volume & mute buttons work.
  USB memory sticks are registered and mounted
  WiFi works with no obvious issues
  TrackPad & TrackPoint work
  External Thinkpad USB Keyboard works, external TrackPoint works (but is a little 'heavier')
  External Thinkpad USB Keyboard volume control & mute buttons work
  DVD ROM reads data and video disks (but wants a region set)
  ThinkLight (hardware - it should)
  Docking station, power & USB (serial, parallel & ethernet ports not tried)

Not working:

• Docking/undocking. Dock is only noticed if powered up in that configuration.
  External HDMI monitor via DVI-dual adapter in docking station - blanks all displays.
  Bluetooth - no sign whatsoever
  CardBus/PCMCIA - no sign whatsoever

Missing:

• Eject widget icon (although right-click works)

Not tried:

• External VGA monitor (I don't have one)
  Time Machine on USB drive
  ExpressCard (I don't have one yet)

The machine seems reliable. I will switch to it for my daily driver in order to test in depth.

How I installed:
I used MyHack 3.3.1 with a 10.9.1 Mavericks install file per the instructions on the MyHack site. I added Madara-san's Extra files to the root of that drive. I installed only 4G RAM and added the second SODIMM after the install was complete.

I booted with these parameters, some of which are needed, and some of which may be superfluous (but I would have to reinstall several times to know which):

I indicated Madara-san's Extra folder (renamed, it didn't matter) when the MyHack installer requested them. Install completed without apparent issues, but the system did not boot up.

I booted on the MyHack USB key again with the same parameters but this time selected the hard disk in the machine I had installed to and reached log in and desktop. I ran MyHack several times to install the BootLoader, the utilities, the TRIM support, and 'MyFix' (and I don't know what that does). After this, the machine booted on it's own.

I can't find any evidence of the TRIM support - does anyone know about that? I don't want to run an SSD without it.

Some people have reported working Bluetooth - can you say what hardware you have?

I will need to edit the DSDT to change the reported video card from 570 to 140 - is there anything else I might want to change in the DSDT for different hardware?

Thanks for the thread and the files. This appears reliable enough now to allow me to consider selling my HP ProBook based Hackintosh - I'd rather have this machine (not as bulky, less fragile, 4:3 screen...)

You haven't mentioned where this quote is from.

My motherboard is one of member Tuus's "holy grail" boards - brand new Lenovo boards manufactured with post-2008 NVidia GPU chips. So it's not buggy...

I have flashed my Frankenpads and X61 tablets with the Middleton BIOS. I used the "boot from CD" method for most.

For this most recent board (the only one with an NVidia chip) I heeded Tuus's advice and ran the Windows update program from a 32 bit Windows Vista install.

I have not had problems either way, but my sample is small, and included only one NVidia motherboard.

After that, I will put Mavericks 10.9.1 on it.

For T61 with NVS140M (15.4 LCD). what else should I pay attention?

Thank you very very much for your post and "Extra" files. It worked awesome. Everything is working except WIFI, which is normal
since OSX does not support Intel WIFI cards. I am getting Atheros card you suggested to use.

**UPDATE** Installed Atheros AR5BXB92 AR9280 card and flashed with Middleton Bios (a must to make it accept the WIFI card).
Reboot and WIFI works like a charm.

My T61, Type:6457-6DU, 08/08 (I guess it is manufacture year and month), The NVidia GPU should not be the faulty one?
Last night, Flashed it with Middleton Bios. no issue.

First of all, thanks to Madara-san and this outstanding forum.
I can get my T61 running Mavericks.

I still have some issues. sometime my computer just hangs during booting.
I noticed under Madara-san's Extra folder. There is RemovedExtensions folder, containing 6 kexts files.

Should I remove all six kexts from S/L/E manually? because I saw some of the six files are still in S/L/E folders.
Maybe that is the reason that hangs my computer during booting?

If you want to change your graphics card's name, you have to edit your DSDT with MacIASL. Open /Extra/DSDT.aml and search for the string "Quadro". Now you will able to edit "Nvidia Quadro FX 570M" with "Nvidia Quadro NVS140m" and save the DSDT.aml

My T61 has "Nvidia Quadro NVS140m". use your DSDT, it shows Nvidia Quadro FX 570M with 256MB VRAM
I guess my "Nvidia Quadro NVS140m" only has 128MB VRAM. So I can also change 256MB to 128MB inside your DSDT file (not only update Graphics Card name)

I just read this article, and it seems that USB1 is what keeps waking this T61p up from sleep. I am not sure what is connected to USB1 that is different on the one T61 that will sleep, compared to the others I own.

Update: I looked further into what the console was saying was causing the T61p to wake from sleep. The two items listed were the biometric coprocessor, and the smart card reader. After thinking about it, I believe that the one T61 I had that would sleep properly did not have the smart card reader option, whereas the other T61's and this T61p do. As a test, I went into the BIOS and disabled the smart card reader as well as a few other items that I don't have (wireless USB, Wireless WAN, etc). Sleep now works perfectly!

Hey Bret, I've actually gotten my T61p to work from Madara-san's files as most others here and had been meaning to report back with my success. My system won't sleep but I believe it's due to what Eric Giles mentioned with the smart card reader and am about to test this. The reason I mention it is that as I was searching in the BIOS as to where to disable the smart card reader, I came across the settings that allow you to disable just about every device in the laptop, including the CardBus/ExpressCard and Bluetooth.

I wonder if perhaps yours are disabled via the BIOS? Go into the BIOS and drill down to the Security option, then I/O Port Access. In that menu you will find where you can Enable/Disable just about everything you can think of. Double check and make sure your Bluetooth and CardBus/ExpressCard's aren't disabled.

I can confirm that my T61p can now sleep after disabling the smart card reader from the BIOS. Apparently that was causing the system to wake up as soon as it tried sleeping. It was odd to me that after I told the laptop to sleep, that it did sleep but then would not wake up by simply hitting the keys nor using the touchpad. I actually had to close the lid and then open it again, after which the laptop quickly sprung to life and asked me to type in my password.

If you'd like to see what's going on as far as the power management goes, you can get details by opening the Console (Launchpad -> Other -> Console OR from a Finder window simply type shift-command-U and click on the Console.app). From there, you'll want to scroll down the sidebar in the Console app and look for "system.log" under the FILES heading. (Note: You can also see power management info in the "powermanagement" log files)

You can see the Wake reasons among other things. For my T61p, after putting it to sleep and opening the lid, the system.log entry shows:

CardBus devices and Bluetooth work in Linux for me, so I expect the BIOS allows them, but I'll have a look as there may be something else of interest in those dark corners...

T61 6457-6DU, 4GB RAM, 128GB ADATA SSD.

I used the latest MyHack to create Mavericks 8GB installation flash drive. Install it on T61. then copy and replace Extra folder with Madara-san package. run my Fix. reboot.

Upgrade to 10.9.1 online.

Then I go to S/L/E, delete ScreenPolicy.kext and AppleAcpiPlatform.kext. run my Fix. reboot

Finally, replace DSDT with clemsyn's DSDT in this forum: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... 6&start=30

Now, pretty stable.

only shutdown seems a little bit slow. I will play with "sudo pmset hibernatemode 0" and delete sleepimage file to see it will improve a little bit.

I stumbled across this thread while trying to install OSX on my T61p 6458 (nvidia 570m). I was quite hopeful being that others of you have had success with installing mavericks on your thinkpads. Unfortunately I have not even been able to run the installer...

Currently I have tried the following: Using myhack 3.3.1 to create an installer with and without the Extra folder provided by Madara-san. Tried booting both 10.8 and 10.9 installers, when looking at the output when booting with the -v flag it doesn't even seem to get as far as the booting the kernel, rebooting right after it finishes the "Read hfs+ file...".

Have tries booting with various combinations of PCIRootUID=1, npci=0x2000, cpus=1 but nothing seems to help it never gets any further.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I made number of similar efforts and unfortunately, I'm having exactly same issue like meetpatty.

Target machine is: ThinkPad T61p (6457-A26) with latest Lenovo Bios 7LETD0WW (2.30) from 02/27/2012 and current hardware configuration = C2D T7700(2.4GHz), 4GB RAM, 240SSD, 15.4in 1920x1200 LCD, 256MB nVIDIA Quadro FX 570M, CDRW/DVDRW, Intel 802.11agn, Bluetooth, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure chip(disabled), 9c Li-Ion, Win7x64SP1&LinuxUbuntu.

Basically, I've tried most of recent infos that I've found in net - like:
- myhack 3.3.1 classic approach to installation of 10.8.0 also with troubleshooting params,
- myhack 3.3.1 classic approach to installation of 10.9.1 also with troubleshooting params,
- myhack 3.3.1 with Madara-san Extras/Extenstions for installation of 10.9.1 also with troubleshooting params, etc.
Basically - I've tried number of combinations for booting that with -f PciRoot=1 GraphicsEnabler=No/Yes npci=0×2000 or/and npci=0×3000 and patched IOPCIFamily.kext placed in /Extra/Extensions/ with running myFix as well the cpus=1 and some others as well...

Nothing worked.
Actually I've never been able to really boot the MacOSX 10.9.1 installer on the T61p 6457-A26.
It just shows the initial, grey background with centered apple for few seconds and then just before it should show the spinning wheel and go on with loading kexts, system and installer - it always reboots, so the only thing I've been seeing recently with all the options I've tried is just BIOS, bootloader then initial grey screen with apple and constant boot loop. I've also not been able to use the -v, while with classic approach it is way to fast to read from screen and after Madara-san Extras/Extenstions&Themes it looks slower, while it shows only some strange, blurred lines on screen like with bad memory allocation on graphics card instead of normal diagnostics messages.


I'm quite new to hackintosh sport and I know there is a lot to learn, however right now I’m stuck in infinite loop of reboots with no ideas left.

Please help and advise, what should I do, to finally install the 10.9.1 and successfully run it on mentioned T61p's configuration.

If someone have problems with the installer, it must be a hardware-related issue because I was succeeded the installation on more than 6 T61p's with these files. Please try the following: default BIOS settings (or flash to middleton BIOS), disable smart card reader, if you have one, or "-v" at the boot prompt. Did you used the mac app store version of mavericks installer?

And a question for everyone: please check your detected FSB on system profiler, and max CPU clock speed with HWMonitor application. I have a problem with it, because my CPU is peaks at 2.3 GHz instead of 2.5 (shows 2.5 in system profiler, but only 2.3 in HWMonitor)

2. Yes, I'm using only the orginal InstallESD.dmgs or isos extracted/made by myself directly from geniue SystemInstaller.apps downloaded by me from appstore on real MBPro5,3.
3. Yes, both smartcard and cardbus are disabled in BIOS. I've also tried to disable most of the rest - no change.
4. -v -> on typical myhack config it shows messages, but it's scrolling way to fast to read and I've tried many times to pause it with 'break' just in right place (last time I've been hoping across them I've got this, what I belive is the final message after TMSafetyNet.kext with two lines of Starting Darwin x86_64 and Boot Args: ... then screen goes black and reboot happens in fraction of milisecond probably without any further messages), while with yours Extras/Extensions/Themes after using -v it does look slower, however it shows only pixelized/blurred lines like some bad gpu memory allocations instead of readable text so no way of telling if yours config reboots on the same place of not.
5. Aside scrambled/pixelized -v messages, I've detected also one other major difference between the classic myhack and yours configs of chameleon bootloader appearance on my T61p-> on the typical myhack I could enter the ?memory and it displays some kind of BIOS reported memory ranges table, but with your config it hungs permanently right after using the ?memory command with no table displayed and no c+a+d works then, so you have to powercycle the machine itself...
6. I don't know what type of hardware-related issue you are referring to and how to detect, isolate and overcome the issue with MacOSX installer, while the hardware itself is in great condition and simply rock solid stable under Win7x64 and Linux, everything working fine with no issue since years.
7. I just don't know how to boot the MacOSX installers there - please advise, what else possible could I try with it.

Madara-san, you have done a great job for all of us. I just want to say - thank you very much from deep bottom of my heart, hope you recover soon so we can continue to see your latest post in this forum.

I have been using your Extras files to get Mavericks running successfully on my T61 6457-6DU (T7500, 2.2Ghz, Nvidia NVS140m 128MB).

As other people did, I flush my T61 with middleton BIOS. (Boot from flash drive with MS-DOS, run FLASH2.exe /U within middleton BIOS folder), it made me feel a little bit nervous during 2-5 minutes flashing process. But I flashed 3 T61, 2 X61, all successfully.

I use myHack to install Mavericks without any difficulty.

I even keep Smart Card Reader, PCMCIA Card, PC-Express Card Reader all enabled in BIOS. (disable or enable, both seem OK to me)
Secure Chip disabled or enabled does not make any difference in Mavericks, but must be disabled during flashing middleton BIOS.

Memory Execution Protection must be enabled in BIOS when installing and running Mavericks. otherwise it will not work !!! This is just opposite to MS Windows, if you have problem to run an Windows Application, you need to disable Memory Execution Protection in BIOS

This is for everyone that has tried and failed on a t61p. Let's get this resolved shall we...
My machine is a trusty ThinkPad T61p 6457 (Core 2 Duo T7700 2.4 GHz - 15.4" 1920x1200 with 8GB of RAM. HDD is a new ST750LX003-1AC154 750GB. Wifi Card is an Air Extreme branded Atheros AR5BXB112 AKA; AR938x in Windows.
Middleton Bios enabled.
Mother board is a 42W7653.
It shows as;
SYSTMBRD FRU PLANAR CARD ASM NVIDIA.
System board assembly, nVIDIA NB8P-GL with AMT

Starlog #1
Booted ML via VMware downloaded myhack and successfully created a Mavericks USB install with MBR patch enabled. (Im trying to dualboot this thing) Replaced the default Extra files with Madara-san Extra folder.
Booted perfectly even with a lenovo thinkpad image and loads beautifully but installation could not be completed due to an infinity of errors.
Result; Failure.
I'm thinking the mbr patch from myhack is killing the whole installation will try to go full guid.

Same procedure except I placed Madara-san extra folder into the root of the computer named it Extra 2. This time around no lenovo thinkpad image loader did not appeared.
Result; Failure same errors same crash I think. I really need to start saving those logs...

I will re-check my bios settings, and go full guid. I also noticed that my disk drive keeps popping open. I think this is what may be causing the errors will try to run installation without it.

What I will surely try;
Let myhack finish as GUID partition.
Lower computer RAM to 4GB.
Try 10.9.1 with and without Madara-san files.

Memory Execution Protection must be enabled in BIOS when installing and running Mavericks. otherwise it will not work !!! This is just opposite to MS Windows, if you have problem to run an Windows Application, you need to disable Memory Execution Protection in BIOS

Now the installer boots fine. In next days I will test the whole setup.

I would like to have a triple boot with Win7, Linux and MacOSX(by Madara-san) on one SSD disk/GPT-GUID and having Chameleon bootloader with screen modded by Madara-san suits me well, so please advise - in what order should I install the Win,Lin,OSX and where to put the Lin/Grub loader to avoid conflict with Chameleon?

May I recommend you look in for forums for the MyHack tool, and also other dedicated Hackintosh sites, such as tonymacx86, etc? People there are probably posting the details of how they accomplished this.

And a question for everyone: please check your detected FSB on system profiler, and max CPU clock speed with HWMonitor application. I have a problem with it, because my CPU is peaks at 2.3 GHz instead of 2.5 (shows 2.5 in system profiler, but only 2.3 in HWMonitor)

Everyone seems to have the same issue, my T7500 (2.2Ghz), Peak Frequency in HWMonitor shows 2.0Ghz. Multiplier is x11, so I can calculate the Front Bus is 181.81Mhz (not 200Mhz).

People with T7300 (2.0Ghz) , Peak Frequency in HWMonitor shows 1.8Ghz. T8300 (2.4Ghz) shows 2.2Ghz in HWMonitor.

Why we always lose 200Mhz for any kind of CPU???

I run Geekbench, Windows 7 shows 3946, While Mavericks shows 3519. I guess if I can pickup 200Mhz back in Mavericks. Geekbench Index will be the same in Mavericks as Windows 7.

Any suggestion?

If you would like to try a triple-boot method, please use MBR. Then partition the drive with a linux utility, I recommend GParted:

1. Mac OS X HFS
2. Windows NTFS
3. Extended --> ext4, linux-swap

First install Mac OS, then Windows 7, and last, Linux. After all of them, fix Windows 7 bootloader, then boot to Myhack and install chameleon

Yes, I assume the FakeSMC.kext cannot interpret Thinkpad bios correctly. I will search to see someone has specifically compiled FakeSMC.kext for Thinkpad.

I'm using FakeSMC from one of these. What if we try another Mac model? Now we are using MacBookPro5,1, but that uses DDR3... maybe a MacBookPro4,1 suits better for the T61p.

The only strange thing is that with a Dell Latitude D830, MacBookPro5,1 works well, no CPU downclocking.

Did you read this? The article mentions that FSB drop to 182 MHz . Maybe the ThinkPad BIOS have some conflict with IDA? (There's no option to disable that.)
