El Capitan on T61 nvidia possible

#1 Post by miljoneir » Tue May 24, 2016 3:09 pm

Hello, I would like to give a heads up to show that osx 10.11 can run and work perfectly on our laptop. Sadly I don’t have time to write a decent how-to, but I will link to the useful sites I used.
I installed 10.11.4, and successfully updated to 10.11.5 last week :)

What works:
everything, including sleep (besides the known sleep led glitch + make sure “modem” is enabled in your bios)

Issues:
Bad audio quality, maybe new voodoohda required?
App store not working (known general hackingtosh issue, see fix here: https://www.reddit.com/r/hackintosh/com ... _cant_use/)
Print screen button toggles the touchpad on/off
Don’t use Hwmonitor! It somehow managed to interfere with fan control (only kicking in when anything goes to 70°C!) use “macs fan control” instead.
Often cpu slowdowns after you pause music from apps like itunes, spotify

EDIT: fixed this one (was darn annoying)
see here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/ ... y-30-secs/

Installation: (the sites I got this from are German, use translate)
Use instructions from here: https://www.hackintosh-forum.de/index.p ... cher-doch/

All thanks to "griven" for figuring this out.
It is not necessary to do the DSDT mods, as he has one in his sig.
I would, however, use a newer voodoops2 instead of the kext “AppleACPIPS2Nub.kext” and “AppleACPIPS2Nub.kext ” as they are outdated and don’t give a functioning trackpoint.
He also did not include ACPIBatteryManager, so get that one as well to get battery % working.

get the new voodoops2 here: https://bitbucket.org/RehabMan/os-x-voo ... /downloads
and acpibat here: https://bitbucket.org/RehabMan/os-x-acp ... /downloads

The clover configuration gets explained here: https://www.hackintosh-forum.de/index.p ... IA-Grafik/
The only thing I would add here is to enable “Apple RTC” in “kernel en kext patches” to prevent cmos reset after sleep.

Post-installation:
Use clover installer again, this time choosing the drive you installed osx on.
You should also install all kext you have using kextwizard. Somehow only then audio started working.

Cheers, and good hack :)
