X240 & OS 10.14 Mojave questions

#1 Post by Whitieiii » Mon Jun 11, 2018 3:34 am

I'm thinking of getting an X240 and want to know what's it take to run os 10.14 Mojave on one of these? i'm wanting to get one and try out 10.14 on it... it will be my main machine for travel and want to dual boot it with windows 10 pro... I know I'll have to switch out the wireless card but what AC card would work in it for both Mac and Windows? is this a good machine to install mac os on?

If you are going to dual boot anyway, why not run it with W10 Pro and use a VM in VMWare or VirtualBox. This will surely run with no problems.

In general, any Qualcomm Atheros / Broadcom wireless cards work much better with Hackintosh than any Intel cards. Don't know the specific situation here, though.

There is a Video up by youtube user N1T3MAN1969 ( LINK TO VID ) that goes into and through the install of Mojave on an X220, so I assume it should be just as easy on an X240, other than any H/W issues?

For the record, N1T3MAN1969 is a close friend and after posting his video, we both sat down together, pooled resources and went through the install process again, section by section, point by point and bottomed out a few additional items and new steps to make the install easier and get backlight control working from the keyboard, amongst other things.

There is a written guide forthcoming, albeit it needs completing.

So far Mojave is confirmed as working on an i5 and an i7 X220 (Both my machine and N1T3MAN1969's machine, as well as my i7 T420, from which I type this response.
