How do I not destroy Windows when installing OSX?

#1 Post by Ragueneau » Mon Jun 19, 2006 3:19 pm

I've tried installing OSX on my T41 a few times with my patched 10.4.4 DVD and I almost always come to the same conclusion- destroying my existing Windows partition. I've tried leaving empty space at the end of the drive and having Disk Utility make an HFS+ partition out of it, as well as going in with a drive full of Windows and trying to make Disk Utility resize my NTFS in addition to making a Mac space out of what's left over.

As nice as a fresh Windows partition is, I'm getting very tired of using the IBM Restore Discs. How can I install OSX and leave Windows alone?

Parition your drive before you run the install dvd with e.g. Partition Magic.
Resize you Win partition to your liking and create another Primary partition (not formated).
Then boot your OSX and install normaly.
After that you'll ba able to chose between OSX and XP via Darwin bootloader. Reinstalling XP bootloader is also possible if so you wish.

Tell me I'll let you know how. 8)
