OS X on a Thinkpad T41

#1 Post by DesolataX » Thu Oct 05, 2006 12:45 pm

I am trying to get OS X 10.4.7 running on my T41, but whenever I try to boot up, I just get these blank lines after the Darwin loader.
Is it because of a hardware incompatibility? I have a 1.6ghz pentium-m, radeon 9000, IBM a/b/g.
I have installed OS X twice with a prepatched version, perhaps a bad burn?

I managed to get it installed on my T41, with almost the same specs as yours, except I have an Intel wireless B mini-pci card. While doing the install, did you make sure to select the correct patches for your system? Once I did that, everything loaded fine.

There are glitches running it on the system. Some video and audio issues that I haven't had time to track down fixes for if there are any. My Intel wireless B card doesn't work at all and probably never will according to the osx forum. Oh well.....

My .02 .....

You should check out the dedicated Mac OSx86 forums. They are a resource for that specifically, and have a humungous user base. You can cross-reference your hardware there.

I'm getting ready to do an install myself, I'll let you all know how it goes.

You need at least a Dothan to use OSX as it relies on the prosessor having at least the SSE2 instruction set. The Dothan is the second generation pentium M , I believe you have a Banias, first genereation without SSE2.

Edit: Doh I think I am wrong, that the Banias do support sse2.. oh well :)

Try installing without the additional ATI drivers.
