if u didnt know... the before the currently release, 10.4.8 was actually running on 10.4.4 kernel. some people on insanelymac forum have broken into the 10.4.8 kernel and made it work... currently it only works with intel ss3 processors. so likely it only works on t60 and z61 go get ur copy now from the right sources. I have my ThinkPad T60p on order, and I'm planning on installing 10.4.8!

Is *THAT* why it's no longer on there...

I checked these forums before the InsanelyMac ones this evening, but there we go.

I've been seeding it, but I didn't know it was a booboo.

I'll go read up on it.

And it just happens that the intel 2200bg isn't supported, as usual. I guess time to get an atheros card :P

i'll be writing a writeup about how to get everything working (including FRAMEBUFFER / Res switching / sleep /dual display!!!) soon :) Hopefully it will replace my old sticky, or perhaps i can append the old one to it.

I am anxiously awaiting your results...please report back as soon as you are done. With T60p's at a very low price now, I will probably do the same thing (pending your successful results of course :) )

Please do, and many thanks in advance!

i decided to wait until we have more support to post a writeup --- i was only able to get the new kernel to boot using the cpus=1 flag basically rendering my badass processor useless, and there are some other catches :(

as a consolation prize, i wrote a script to fully install t60p's, and will be working on adding an x60s support as well.

MalevolentEvil, that would be AWESOME.

Definitely help us out, because I am definitely wanting to run OS X as my main OS, and all the progress you've made makes it like a fully functional OS!

Thanks in advance-

Interesting - cuz I could never get my atheros to work with either 10.4.3 or 10.4.4 :( (IBM a/b/g)

I can hardly wait for the write-up you promised on the subject, especially if it covers the X60s as well!

Please do let us know about the x60s support - confirmed sleep and video operation is all that's keeping me from buying an x60s or x60 tablet for OSX use. Thanks.

ugh; Natit is being a *****. I havn't been able to get the internal video working on my T60p with the new kernel using Natit (so i can get resolution switching).

The x60s should work, but my friend with the x60 is out of town, so unless someone else can confirm, you will have to wait :P

sorry!

Are there some new results? I'm using a TP X60s.
Before configurating the system, i got the problem, that i don't exactly know what patches to install an which not.

This is a picture from the custumizing-part in the installation. Can someone tell me, in this picture which parts have to be selected and which one not?

hi,

you have to mark all intel related patches and all SATA patches. thats it. there is a sound and powermanagement guide in this forum.
i'm running currently jas10.4.8 on a x60s and it's amazing how fast!
by the way, the intel wireless-card will not work. u have to change it for a atheros-card.

cheers

Hi,

i made 4 attempts, with the following selctions:
1:
- Jas.10.4.8.Combo.Update
- INTEL.SSE3.semthex
- INTEL.ICH8.SATA.Support
- 10.4.8.GMA950.Support

2:
- Jas.10.4.8.Combo.Update
- INTEL.SSE3.semthex
- 10.4.8.GMA950.Support

3:
- INTEL.SSE3.semthex
- INTEL.ICH8.SATA.Support

4:
- Jas.10.4.8.Combo.Update
- INTEL.SSE3.semthex
- INTEL.ICH8.SATA.Support

But no success since now. Sometimes i got a message "press the restart button", sometime i got an "stop-sign".

Which selections do i have to mark exactly?
What about the "INTEL.ICH8.SATA.Support"? Do i need tihs?
Maybe only the "INTEL.SSE3.semthex" will satisfy?

EDIT:
attempt 5, only selected:
- INTEL.SSE3.semthex

no success :(

I used
- Jas.10.4.8.Combo.Update
- INTEL.SSE3.mifki
during installation and patched
- 10.4.4 loginwindow
- AppleAzaliaAudio
after the first successful boot.

INTEL.ICH8.SATA.Support
is a chipset support for Intel G965's motherboard and
my T60p uses 945GM with ICH7, so I didn't installed the patch.

See my installation memo

Got the new 10.4.8 installed and used the "latest" full Installer DVD that has the following:

1) bikerdude880's ICH7R fix ( this allowed me to just erase the partition and reinstall and it booted without the "chain boot error" )

2) Comes with the Disk Utility from 10.4.7 as the one in 10.4.8 had issues on bootup. Once installed you do get the 10.4.8 one...

3) Used the 10.4.4 Loginwindo for Intel only fix

4) Used the 10.4.8 Intel SSE2.SSE3 kext

5) Used the 10.4.8 Azalia.Audio Fix ( works great for T60 & X60 series)

6) Used the 10.4.8 ATI Radeon X1X00 pcie support ( use on T60P or any with ATI video )

7) Used the Laptop Power management bundle ( fixes battery indicator )

After all the above and provided you have the Atheros 802.11a/b/g card ( also called the Thinkpad 802.11abg ) you will be all set.

If you feel like you want to push the envelope get the new Atheros 802.11abgn card and install the Apple 802.11n update from their site to get it to work flawlesly.

What still fails is sleep and mouse tearing due to lack of a proper framebuffer driver. Neither have a fix as of this post.

Good luck with your setup!
