Please help: CI/QE on which TP's does it work?

Hi everybody,

I am planning to buy a Thinkpad at ebay, and install OSX on it.
The thing is, I will need Quartz Extreme and CI working.
After doing quite some research, I still don't know on which TP'S these technologies work for sure (without any hardware hacks).

I am especially interested in the TP's of the X and T series.

If you don't know for sure if you have it running on your box -> you can check when you go to 'About This Mac' and then check for the Hardware Info -> under Graphics Card you will find Info on QE and CI.

Your help is highly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

elementz

p.s.: one off topic question: is there a big difference between the x31 and the x41 perfomance wise? I know that the x41 uses shared memory for its GPU - does this make it faster or slower than the x31?

This question has not an easy answer, since it depends from the video card inside the TP.

To further complicate the situation, given the same video card one may have different results depending on which specific LCD panel is present (different EDID data).

Anyway, as far as I remember, almost no laptop has CI/QE out of the box. Some sort of tweak is almost always necessary.

Take a look at this page, where most types of known solutions for video cards are listed, and look for video cards that may come with the TP you are interested in:
