It looks like a number of people have OSX running on the Thinkpad X60 (and X60s?). Apologies if these have already been answered.
I was wondering what works and what doesn't as of 10.4.9. Particularly:
1) Is the system basically stable?
2) Does sleep work?
3) Can you hook up an external monitor?
4) Is basic networking, sound and Ultrabase functionality (DVD) present?
5) Does power management work at all? How hot/loud does the machine get in normal operation in OSX?
Thanks for any insights. I'm seriously considering an X60s (or X60) but am less than thrilled by being stuck with Windows, and it isn't as if Apple makes ultralights, let alone any in the same class as the X series.
OSX86 and X60(s) - what works?

Hi. I don't know if it has already been answered, but I know that even if it has, it is really hard to find accurate and comprehensive information (phpBB's search function is not that good, and insanelymac's forums are too big).
As far as I went (10.4.6), the system worked pretty well :
- very stable system (never saw a kernel panic, a freeze, or anything)
- sleep did not work
- external monitor supported up to max resolution (20 inches 1680*1050). Mirror mode and extended desktop mode also worked (Thinkpad LCD+external monitor) flawlessly, with different resolution for the two screens.
- Networking (had to replace the Intel Wifi card by an Atheros one), audio (no line in) and Ultrabase worked like a charm.
- the laptop seemed very hot, though (even with the power management fix installed). I don't know how hot, but hot to the point that i prefered to stop testing and go back to my normal XP.
I heard sleep and power management issues have been resolved with 10.4.8 and 10.4.9, but honestly, my only shot with 10.4.8 turned out to give me a kernel panic on boot which I was too lazy to investigate (related to the ACPI).
But if anyone has intalled 10.4.9 on a X60 and is willing to provide a comprehensive list of fixes, patches, tweaks,... used to make it work. I might give it an other shot

Thanks. Looks like OSX86 is usable on the X60 (I'm impressed that there were no Kernel Panics - even my MacBook Pro has its bad days), but the caveats regarding heat and battery life are a bit too much for me. Not much point in getting an ultralight if it's too hot for lap top computing...
I definitely agree that it would be awesome if there was a sort of comprehensive, and, just as importantly, well-organized forum for OSX86 info. Right now everything's a bit of a mish-mash.
