I downloaded the RNR4.0 repair program from here:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-54483

I had to burn it to CD since I don't have a floppy in my X60. Problem is that it complains that I can't write to the disk on startup (of course), and it bombs out. Does anyone know what the right parameter is to use in order to fix this? Or, am I using the wrong thing entirely??

I basically want my blue ThinkVantage button to work again on startup by being able to use it to go to the Recovery Partition.

Problem SOLVED!

I used Nero and made a bootable ISO from the floppy image (I used another computer to write the floppy).

I also copied the contents of the floppy to a flash drive.\

I booted OFF the new bootable CD-ROM in the docking station and then put the flash drive in the X60 USB port.

I hit control-c to abort the autoexec.bat program after it booted up. This dropped me to the DOS prompt. I changed to the USB drive (drive C:) and ran the DOE.EXE program which then was able to start up and rewrite the master boot record to the Thinkpad.

The reason you have to run the files off a usb drive is that the program needs write access (something you obviously can't do w/ a CD-ROM drive). I suppose I could have made a bootable USB flash drive, but I didn't want to go through the extra hoops necessary to do that.

So...problem FIXED!

Now, if only I could figure out how to boot the OS X partition from my Vista one...I have chain0, but it's not booting....

Download and install EasyBCD for Vista:

Then, with EasyBCD you will easily configure the bootloader in order to have Vista/Mac OS X dual boot.
