Which OSX86 version should i get for my T40? *PICS*
Hello
I am quite a newbie with OSX86, so i am asking which version of OSX86 i should get and install on my T40.
Which version of OSX86 is the recommended version for my T40?
Some T4x users here who can choose a good version?

I tried installing version "JaS 10.4.6." that i got from a friend, who doesn't use it.
But i am stuck, the installer won't load, the Darwinx86 prompt comes up, says 'press any key to install, or press F8 for boot options"
i press a key, and it begins to load, but the problem is, it gets stuck at this screen:

I'll have to try 10.4.1. I tried using 10.4.8 on my T40 with mixed success. It installed, but for some reason the OS would lock up at the gray apple screen. I tried reinstalling and ended up with the same result...
Is is possible to use Apple's Software Update to upgrade to 10.4.10 once 10.4.1 is installed?

As far as the Apple Update, I really don't know about that. I was pretty happy just getting it up and running and useful, I like OSX a lot, once you get over the initial learning curve of where everything is you need it will be worth the time and energy invested to get it right.
I found a few good forums through the apple web site that were helpful in working out some of my issues.

Re: OS-X on a ThinkPad
I run 10.4.8 on my T42. No wireless yet and 1024x768 on the built-in LCD. On my port replicator, the DVI out works. Until I can get the ATI drivers working properly, no DVD playability.

As kind of an update to my earlier post....
I have spent a month on and off installing JaS 10.4.8 on a few of the Thinkpads that I have and tinkering with them to get as much functionality as possible. So far, my best success is with the T42 I am currently typing this with. It has the Mobility Radeon 7500 with 32MB RAM, Dothan 1.7GHz CPU, 1GB DDR RAM, Atheros b/g wireless.
I initially installed it on my T40 and got everything working except QE. My T40 only has the 16MB Radeon 7500, and after much reading I discovered although it is possbile to get QE running, the success rate is better with the 32MB version. Using the Radeon 7500 driver pack and the Callisto 003 drivers, I was FINALLY able to get OpenGL and QE working on the T42. Core Image (CI) will NEVER work on the 7500 as it does not have the correct pixel shader hardware.
That being said, general video usage is fine-however, DVD playback yields a black screen, and viewing someone via webcam in Skype gives you a green video window. Besides that, no issues that I have found as of yet. Audio completely works-line in, line out, and microphone, wireless works after a little tweaking-but of course sleep/suspend doesn't.
My advice to the original poster-if you are still trying to install this-is to only install the most basic packages needed. Leave out any video packages-just pick the Azallia audio, the SSE2/SSE3 JaS package, and power management. That has given me a basic working install on every Thinkpad I have tried so far.
It takes a LOT of research and reading to make all of this work properly. It's very frustrating, but can be rewarding at the same time. I can try to help anyone that has questions, but it all of my fixes have been done over the past month working on and off on it so my memory may be a bit hazy.
