Has anyone gotten this combination to work? If not, any suggestions or workarounds? I was thinking about a regular Atheros a/b/g card...good idea?

Fixed, download and install the AirPort Extreme Update 2007-002. Wireless G. (Not for N)

HarryC-

I appreciate that post! I had Uphuck installed on my T60p with wireless working, but I uninstalled it due to the system being very unstable. I installed the JaS 10.4.8 today but was having a lot of trouble with the same Atheros card that you have. This update fixed it.

I know that we have two different video cards (X1400 vs. FireGL 5250)-but have you been able to get your's at the correct resolution? I cannot use any type of acceleration and no matter how many times I edit the com.apple.Boot.plist file, I only get 1400x1050 resolution on my 15.4" WSXGA+ screen. Any suggestions on that? I have read all of the different forums and How-to's until I am going crosseyed, and I still have not had any success in the video portion.

Yes, I was able to get 1400x1050x24 working on the internal LCD, and just moments ago I got 1280x1024x24 working on an external LCD. 1680x1050 does not work, this is a known problem. I used these instructions word for word. The only hastle is editing boot.plist every time I undock. If anyone runs across a way to change resolutions on the fly please let us know.

1) Open the file:
/System/Library/Extensions/ATIRadeonX1000.kext/Contents/Info.plist

2) and find the line "<key>IOPCIMatch</key>". Modify the next line to say: "<string>0x71091002 0x71C41002 0x71C01002</string>"

3) Open the file "/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist"

4) after the lines:
"<key>Boot Graphics</key>
<string>Yes</string>"

add the lines:

"<key>Graphics Mode</key>
<string>1600x1200x32</string>"

As a side note I used this thread to get CI/QE working -

Yep-been there, done that too! What happens in my case is that the device id for the FireGL 5250 is 71d4, and when you enter that in the plist file the machine will not boot. The drivers just don't seem to work for that card, and I have yet to find anyone that has had success with it.

Others were also talking that 1680x1050 wasn't possible-are you sure it is running at 1680x1050, or just stretching 1400x1050?

Yeah I amended my post just prior to yours...it was running at 1400x1050 stretched. I just read on insanely Mac a suggestion to run 4:3 instead of 16:10 in BIOS so it won't be stretched. Haven't tried that yet.

I saw the same thing, so I tried that last night and it is much better-basically makes it look like you have an SXGA+ screen with some black borders on the sides.

On another note-my audio output works fine, but it does not detect the built-in microphone. Normally it wouldn't be an issue, but I do like to use Skype to talk to friends online and would like this to work. Do you have the same issue?

Same here, no input devices found in system preferences, sound. I'll try the 4:3 thing next time I undock, thanks.

Hm. Does the card work on pre-n mode? I read on the OSX86 forums that enabling pre-n will mess up AC97 support. I currently have an experimental status X31 with a WMIA-207GN b/g/n card running with 3 antennas. It runs fine in g mode, but I am kind of afraid to run it on pre-n mode.
