How to enable Quatrz Extreme/OpenGL on X31 ?

#1 Post by nasdak » Sun Sep 02, 2007 4:46 am

Hi folks,

After some weeks of differents tries, i still can't have QE enabled on my thinkpad X31
I tried everything stated in forums - callisto 06, openglframebuffers, and so one... it never worked!

Could someone give me a hint?

thanks!

What video chipset does the X31 have? It may not be QE compatible.

yes it is, as i found many forums where guys made it work, and the osX86wiki states :
ThinkPad X31

use Jas10.4.8.SSE2.SSE3.Intel.AMD.PPF1.PPF2.iso"

Working - Video(ATI Mobility Radeon M6) - works with QE/OpenGL/AGP GART, need to delete the original ATI kexts/OpenGL Framework, obtain Radeon 7500 Pack, overwrite original Callisto Framebuffer Drivers with files from version b06, then move all kexts/OpenGL.frameworks into place
- Audio - original support
- Mic - original support
- Line-in - original support
- 10/100 Ethernet - Might need the older AppleIntel8255x.ext file placed onto /System/Library/Extensions to make work
- USB ports- original support
- Battery display- original support
- Track-point - original support
- Wireless - Swapped out Intel 2100B for Atheros based A/B/G II mini-pci card, and apply kext from 10.4.6 (must apply patch for bios to ignore wireless card). iwi2100b support is ongoing.

Not Working: - Sleep function - could put to sleep, coming out of sleep reboots laptop or do not have QE, but it can sleep without closing the screen

I wrote the notes regarding QE/OpenGL - check your PM for details. Keep in mind that QE should NOT be turned on if you want good video playback performance.

Does QE matter for everyday usage? Mostly web browser, flash/web videos, music, chat.

I've tried callisto b006 using the 7500 mobility id, ci/qe is still off in 'about this mac' panels.

Do you mind posting your methods to get ci/qe running?

Found rage's post on another forum and got QE working. Updated itunes and quicktime, then added iphoto, then front row. From what i've been reading CI and sleep/wake is probably not going to happen on X31.
