Which distribution? Which drivers are you installing? Offhand, a standard 10.4.9 install like uphuck 1.4 should function okay without tweaking.

i'm using uphuck 10.4.9. i'm installing the ATI X1X00 under Drivers. i've tried installing just the NATIT drivers, but that gives me a blank red screen.

i do the complete install, along with the ATI X1X00 drivers, and then once it reboots, it loads for a while. the screen then goes from blue dots to white dots to all white, then white with multi-colored lights.

what modifications do i need to make after the install to make it work?

i've looked for values to change the IOPCIMatch to work with the X1300, but i can't find anything that works...

thanks!

Well, if you just need a working install, you can of course not install the drivers at all, and it should use the failsafe graphics mode.

Once you've got a working install, I believe adding the ATI X1000 drivers from the uphuck DVD, and following the instructions in this thread should be sufficient. Which PCI ID are you using?

that's one of the things i can't figure out - i've tried with the ati drivers on the uphuck image, and i know i need to use a different pci id, but the one i've been using (0x7149...) doesn't seem to work. 7149 was mentioned in one of the posts on that thread you linked to.

i've followed nebzar's excellent guide, but i couldn't find a pci id for the x1300 that worked.

i figured it out, kinda.

i did a fresh install from the uphuck image, but didn't select ANY drivers. after the reboot, it worked, but was at 1024x768. i changed the com.apple.Boot.plist to have it at 1400x1050 upon reboot.

i know that i won't be able to play games on it or do anything 3D related - i'm just happy i can see the desktop and use the operating system.

now, if only they can figure out the 3945 drivers...

Sorry about the graphics. I'd keep an eye out on the InsanelyMac forums though, in case somebody comes up with something.

Regarding the Intel 3945, you're pretty much out of luck. You can get the Atheros a/b/g card for the Thinkpad off eBay for not too much, if you're really attached to WiFi in OS X.
