Atheros a/b/g on X31

#1 Post by losmeme » Tue Nov 06, 2007 7:49 am

Hi all;

Have successfully loaded JaS 10.4.6. Most all worked out of the box. (sound, ethernet, FireWire)

The wireless refuses to run. I have patched the IO80211Family kext to add my device (<string>168c,1014</string>) No problems there, change shows up in Info.plist. (This is an IBM OEM Wireless card, I checked the DEV and VEN ids under windows)

The wireless light now shows on the clearplate, and the wireless radio icon appears on the top menu bar, with "Airport not configured" greyed out. The network preferences panel shows nothing other than the installed FireWire and built-in ethernet.

When I launch Airport setup, it tells me the card cannot be found.

I have looked at the NetworkingPreferences.kext, and only the builtin (en0) and FireWire (fw0) show up.

Any clues to help get wireless running?

losmeme,

Try this tutorial on how to load a kext - I had similar problems, but then fixed the permissions with chmod and chown and rebotted and it worked - it should definately work.
