About installation leopard on X61

I have a thinkpad x61 laptop running Vista. I have replaced a brand new (not formatted yet) SATA harddisk.
I have used a retail leopard DVD to make a .DMG and then patched to create an .ISO using BrazilMac method. When I boot from the DVD, it shows the Apple logo with the cursor spinning and never advances from that for several hours.
I also downloaded Leopard_GM_9a581_Patched_for_Intel_PCs_SSE3_only DVD to try. But this time, it shows the 4 languages instruction for reboot everytime I tried.
What's wrong I did?
Any help would be appreciated.

have you started with parameters jet ?
check if your SATA mode in bios is in compatible mode...
press F8 at boot of dvd rom paramesters like : -v -s -x -f -legcay ....
-v is verbose ( u see logs )
-s is safe mode
.....

Thanks, xaviller
1. If I use compatibility mode for the installation,
Can I change it back to AHCI afterwards?
2. Is it necessary to format the harddisk first? coz I use a brand new one to install.

your harddisk dont need to be formated... once you get the installation running , you are able to format, and split your harddrive inside of the mac os installation , for this there is a disk utility , you find it in the upper task bar before starting setup, after selecting language ...
after you have done so, you also need to set the boot partition active ... ( use in terminal : fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0 , f 1 , write , y, exit )....
if you install a patched osx you should be able to switch it back,... but i didnt try jet...
have fun...

I have tried both compatibility and AHCI mode. But unfortunately, the results are same.
It is necessary to install tiger to format harddisk and make it bootable before installing leopard?

1. changing back to ahci after install ( 10.5 or 10.5.1 ) is possible and works out of the box... little speedup....
2. for leo brazil patch you need a tiger running, therefor you also need a formated harddrive...
when you successfully booted into the osx installation, you select a language and then , before you go ahead you need to format your harddrive with the disk utility ...
boot with -v and post your last lines before the pc stops on hold or reboot....( you may just take a picutre with digicam )....

very similar to the t61 (see my post
http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php? ... ntry501609). there are new Leopard DVDs out there. You can use 10.4.9 v1.5 r3 Uphuck is you want an easy and small 10.4. cheer s- jl
