Help with installing Tiger on X61 Tablet

#1 Post by Jobo » Tue Dec 04, 2007 9:03 pm

Hello, I have recently been trying to install Tiger on my newly bought X61 Tablet, the name of the ISO I downloaded is uphuck_10.4.9_v1.4i_r3.

I burned it to a disc, and it booted up perfectly to the installer without a hitch, however, when I get to the "select harddrive" part, no harddrive shows!?

I am wondering what I am doing wrong, I have made a partition for it and everything, but I cannot get it to find the harddrive.

Ok.. so I managed to find out that you have to go into BIOS > Config > SATA and then change it to "Compatibility"

Once you've done this, you can go into Disk Utility in the installer and it will find your harddrive, and then once you've installed it, it will either work or it wont...

For me, it said HFS+ Partition Error

This can be fixed by following these steps:

Code: Select all

Q: After reboot, Mac OS X refuses to start by saying chain0 error, or HFS+ partition error. What do I do?

A: This seems to be an incompatibility on some computers between Mac OS X (10.4.7 JaS) and Windows Vista (final release). Install Mac OS X before Windows Vista

A(2): After rebooting and getting the "HFS+ partition error" is most likely because the partition not being set as active . A way to fix this is to restart and boot the dvd. At the boot screen press F8 to give yourself boot options.
type -s, and press enter
fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0 // 0 would be the disk you installed it too.
flag 2 //2 would be the partition of the harddrive you installed OSX86 on.
update
write
exit
reboot
After I did that, I his F12 during startup and chose my harddrive in the list, and it gives you a multiboot list, with your Mac OS X partition being one, so now you can boot mac on an X61!

Btw, I was using the Uphuck 10.4.9 image...

Also, I have no internet... anyone have any luck? There are no drivers it seems.
