OS X 10.5.1 Kalyway on an X61s - Help

#1 Post by iamdmc » Sun Mar 02, 2008 9:54 pm

I want to install OS X onto my X61s for some lab work I'll be doing. I've never attempted this before, so I have some questions.

1) Will the Trackpoint work as my only mouse?
2) Will the WiFi/Bluetooth/Sound work?
3) Can I install OS X on a different partition as Vista?
4) Can OS X and Vista share a third non-system (data-only) partition?
5) What kinds of problems will I encounter?
6) Should I install Vista x64 first, or OS X 10.5.1 Kalyway?

Lastly, how large is the Kalyway iso? I got just under 4.7GB

Thanks in advance!

yes, the 9mm SSD fits in the X220

1) The touchpad and everything else works.
2) Bluetooth works, sound works and if it doesn't there is a patch to get it to work
3)Yes you can install OSX on a different partition even if Vista is already installed
4)Yes, it has to be FAT32 or FAT. Third party drivers and apps are ok but can corrupt data.
5)You wont be able to use any of the advanced power management functions. Sleep won't work for now...
6) I had Vista installed, created a new partition and then installed OS X.

Seems about right for the Kalyway ISO.

I used Kalyway at first but switched over to iATKOS and used the Kalyway 10.5.2 patches and kernel patch. I found this works the best and was the only way to get my system to boot how I wanted it too.

My setup is actually a hybrid of Kalyway and iATKOS. To get my system to boot using only one boot menu I had to install Kalyway first so it would install the right EFI MBR Files and then install iATKOS. Doing it this way gave me just the Darwin bootloader and not the vista loader which just brought me to the darwin loader.

If you check the OSX86 and Insanely Mac Forums you will find some guides.

At0mAng, a question for you, does the tapping/scrolling/two fingers scrolling etc etc. features of OS X for Macbook's touchpad work with thinkpad's touchpad?

Has anyone tried this on an X61 or X61s?

I never tried. I can give it a shot later when I get back home if no one else has.

They do work once you turn on in the features in settings.
