thanks for the links! The EHCI sleep enabler causes my machine to kernel panic. hmmm... odd. I will try the BIOS soon.

I'm not sure what's left to try here!
Are you running in 32-bit mode?
Can you give me the output of:
Also, you said you updated to 10.6?
Would you be able to generate a zip file of your extensions and extra folder for me? That way I can look at the difference between our kernel extensions in more depth. It will probably be around 70MB, is that ok for you to post? I would sincerely appreciate it.
Code: Select all
zip -r extensions.zip /System/Library/Extensions /Extra
Finally, what is the EXACT model of your X300? Mine is a 6477-CTO

Hi!
I'd say it is running in 32-bit, the x3100 don't want other.
My model is 6477-17G
uname -a says: 10.0.0 Darwin kernel Version 10.0.0 : Fri Jul 31 PDT 2009; root:xnu-1456.1.25-1/RELEASE_i386 i386 xxxxxxx-xxxxxx-mac-pro:
one important thing I forgot to tell you yesterday. In creating the USB thumb drive, I got massive problems with Chameleon 2.3 as also down to 2.1. So I took myHack_installer_1.0_RC3, see her
http://osx86.sojugarden.com/category/installation/
From this moment everything runs fluent. Sorry to tell it so late.
Update to 10.6 is not fully right, my bloody kraut english. It was a virgin installation.
The zip file is ready, if necessary I can upload it. No problem, I'm happy if it help.

Hi Grose,
Thanks for your very helpful replies.
Our models are very close... i don't see how it would make a difference. We are also running the same kernel.
Could you upload the zip file for me to check my extensions? I would sincerely appreciate it... all that is left to make this a complete hackintosh is sleeping properly!
Thanks again!

also, what options did you use in the myHack installer? Did you use the SleepEnabler from there, or the one I uploaded? If you could let me know all you selected, that would be great!

The upload I have to move for tomorrow from my high speed line in the office. Her are maximum 12 KB upload, it will keep two hour. Sorry to let you wait.
You know, this weekend I was also hardly fighting to get it run. if I remember right, first I tried SleepEnabler from myHack. After it not run, I took yours. But only if I remember the right sequence. It seems you must try both.

After you used the myHack installer, did you use my Extra folder, or did you use the Extra folder that myHack created?

Hi Grose,
A major thanks, I got your e-mail with the link for your extensions!
I noticed that in your boot.plist, you have:
Code: Select all
<key>Graphics Mode</key>
<string>1024x768x32</string>
Do you always run at 1024x768? Or are you running at the 1440x900 mode?
Thanks!
George

okay i replaced all of my kexts with yours, and my /Extra folder ... I have good news, and bad news!
The good news is that the computer sleeps with no problem and the wireless card does NOT wake it up. I am digging in to the difference between our kexts for this.
The bad news is that my graphics STILL become distorted after waking up

I have no clue... I will try to think of something else that maybe we can check.
if you could do me another favor... if you could install
pci utils and then open a terminal and run 'lspci' and give me the output, that would be great. I want to see if our video cards are the same revision.

Are you never sleeping?
I wonder, why I have this small resolution marked in my boot.plist. But the baby is running from the beginning with 1440 x 900.
After remarking graphic distortion, did you install your Intel x3100 combo driver again? As i wrote before, I got this graphic distortion too, after reinstalling your driver it was ok.
The pci utils I can run earliest in 3 hour after I cam home. Her in the office I have only the Windoof (Winstupid) PC.
The nice cat is sleeping at home.
However, you are close to take the last hurdle. I believe, lots of friends are reading our correspondence. Be ready to write a additional how to solve the.... problem.
I made just a lucky punch, and my machine runs.

this is a tough problem! I checked my lspci output and we have the exact same revision of the X3100, so there is no difference there!
I did re-install the combo drivers again, but still no luck! I get the 1440x900 display when I boot (I think that kernel Graphics directive is ignored), so all works normally there. It's still just a problem after sleeping.
I managed to find one other person with the same symptoms as me, except his occur without sleeping:
http://www.uphuck.ggrn.de/forum/viewtop ... f=7&t=7952
Thanks for running lspci for me! Let me try to think of sometihng else we can attempt...

I found the problem!!! The System Profiler gave me a hint with "ROM Revision: OpenGL Engine activated via EFI String" ... I thought that this was weird so I started to dig around in my system to find this string. I found that it was included in an EFI string that I used once to try and fix my brightness without using Shades. Once I removed this string from /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist it worked!! Yesssss

A fully working laptop!
Could you still paste me your output of System Profiler though? I am curious if you have Quartz enabled or not!
Thanks so much Grose! You really helped me narrow down the problem.

haha thanks for the paste! I can pretty much interpret the german
I believe that we both do not have OpenGL support enabled with the graphics drivers. This is my 2nd goal now
My first goal is getting instructions on how to keep the computer asleep without the wireless card waking up. I am pretty sure that the kext you have loaded, EHCISleepEnabler.kext. If I just copy this kext in to my system with my whole series of kexts, the machine does not boot from a kernel panic. Therefore, some other changes are needed to get EHCISleepEnabler working in snow leopard. I wonder if myHack installed this for you? Or did you install this yourself?

A sneaking suspicion is coming over me.
My former 10.5.8 installation I got also running with proper sleep mode. This EHCISleepEnabler.kext I still keep. It cud be, in my desperation after many broken installation I tried this kext also.

Thanks Grose! That fixed it, but I also needed to use your IOUSBFamily.kext from the zip of /System/Library/Extensions you gave me! So now sleep is 100% working for me
Now we just have to enable OpenGL support on the graphics card and get that pesky microphone working!

Hey, I did try to install the iPC 10.5.6 today, and patch the voodoopower, GMA X3100 to my thinkpad X300, it works so great. But the problem is I get problem on the 4965AGN, I know there is no driver for the intel wifi. So, may I please ask which Atheros wifi card is supported by the iPC 10.5.6?
Also, even though I put the computer in sleep mode by press Fn+F4, the screen turned off, but the computer keep running and lost battery, any idea of that?
And there is any patch I can use to control the brightness for my X300?

Hi!
Some months ago I run iPC 10.5.6 with after updates to 10.5.8 without too much problems.
But I can tell you 10.6 is running much better and more stable. If you are back reading the posts from gnychis and me, you could install it without problems. This is my personal recommendation. The update to 10.6.1 I could make as on a real Mac. With iPC...., Kallyway.... and all other version it was always a insecure doing. With totally unknown outcome.
Yes, the 4965AGN doesn't work. It is a special version for Lenovo. I try to run it in a Eee-PC, doesn't want.
For sorry I can not give you a concrete name, I bought my Atheros 1 year ago from China. You have to google it. They are some recommended running wifi cards available.
Good luck

The problem here is, I did press Fn+F4 to enter sleeping mode, but the wireless immideately turn on the computer again after the screen was off, any way to fix this?
Otherwise, is that possible to display the battery on the right high corner?
Oh, also, how can I control the brightness, I did press the Fn + End, it is not working, I know there is an "aml" file, but How can I use that?
THank you for your help!!!

Hi!
First of all it will be nice to know, are you still running iPC 10.5.6 as said before, or you went to actual 10.6.1 as recommended.
With ScrLk down and Pause up, I can change the brightness on my X300. But I'm running 10.6.1.
Only thing not running yet is the internal micro.

I just updated to 10.5.8, but not 10.6.1 as I dont know how to make a 10.6.1 installation CD. How can I do that? Thank you for your help
Updated:
Oh I get it, so, do you mean if I wan to make sleeping and brightness control functionable, I must upgrade to 10.6.1 first? If yes, I will go to do it tonight.
Also, do you know how to make the bluetooth always be on? The X300 can detect the bluetooth device, but, the bluetooth is going to turn off after you restart the computer. Then I need to remove all my deivce, and lead the OS ask me whether I want to turn on the bluetooth or not!!!!

Believe me, on the end only the internal micro isn't working. Do not loose time with 10.5.8
Bluetooth I have no need of it. Can't say is it running without problem or not.
