I thought I'd share with you that sleep is finally working on my T60p. I'm using netkas 9.2.0 sleep kernel which can be downloaded from the IRC channel #10.5 on irc.osx86.hu

I had this kernel for a long time, but I just found out why it did not work before. You have to be booted from BATTERY for it to work. If you booted from PSU then you will get the 0192 error.

You can just enter sleep mode using fn+f4 or using the sleep command from the Apple menu on the top left. Turning it back on can be done with the power button (or a USB device if wake up on USB is enabled).

This is a big breaktrough for me and probably for many other thinkpad owners. I'm still looking into why it doesn't properly wake up from sleep if you originally booted from PSU.

Good luck with it, if anyone needs help on installing the kernel, just ask in the IRC or post here.

Does it matter what power is when you go to sleep or just when you wake up?

That is, if I was on PSU when it enters sleep, can I recover successfully if I'm on battery?

Conversely, if it's on battery when it sleeps, can it recover in PSU?

I've done some extensive testing and these are the results:

You have to:
- power up from battery, and
- never plug in the PSU before going to sleep (even unplugging it before putting it into sleep mode does not work).

While in sleep mode, you can charge (connect the PSU), but you have to disconnect it again BEFORE you wake it up.

So you can't recover on your PSU, nor can you recover if you put it to sleep on PSU.

If you boot from battery, then connect the PSU, then disconnect it before you put it to sleep, it will not sleep properly (computer remains on but the screen goes black).

So it really only works if you only use battery, with the only exception being that you can charge it when it's in sleep mode.

I might try uninstalling my PowerManagement.bundle to see if that has any effect on the sleep mode.

My first car, I 'rebuilt' the fuel pump. I mistakenly put a valve in backward. The end result was that only fumes could get through to the carburetor.

finetuned, no hard feelings.. but booting and never plugging in PSU is not exactly the "breakthrough solution". I mean thanks for starting in the right direction, but it's probalby not a "breakthrough" yet. Looking forward to see what you find out w/o PowerManagement Bundle.

No, I was just using a story to make the point that it works great, but not quite the result desired. Sometimes my funny stories don't quite translate too well...

shunyun, I knew your story was funny, I guess I just didn't quite get WHY it was funny

Anyway, I agree that this functionality of sleep is nowhere near what we want. It is a breaktrough for me that it actually CAN wake from sleep (be it just in one situation that hardly ever occurs ). I mean, I;m finally getting somewhere with this sleep thing, and now it seems to be just a matter (ahum) of finding out what the difference to the computer is between the PSU or battery, related to sleep mode.

Update: removing PowerManagement.bundle does not change the results, I'll keep looking. Are any other people around here looking into this issue?

I d/l the Kalaway 10.5.2 dvd and installed to a second partition all kernels except the 92_nforce. I've tried with the 92_sleep, 92_speedstep, and kabylkernel(sleep) and they all exhibit the same problem. I've also tried both disabling all the power management and security functions in bios and fully enabling them all; still same problem.
