Not on a TP, but won't "talk" to my TP...

OK, I asked this question under "Off Topic," and all it did was spur a discussion of my way of listing my model and type numbers...

In installing XP on my 390X, I found a place to change my computer "name" as well as the workgroup. I did that, and I could just see the other computers on my wireless network. Now, until I added a special Apple wireless piece to my router (it looks like the power supply to a MacBook; big, white black that plugs into the wall and runs a CAT-5 line into the back of the router), my wife's best friend had connectivity issues surfing from my wireless "hot spot." My question is this: Is there a similar Mac "properties" that would allow me to change a similar setting to make her Mac "see" the other computers? I'll worry about passwords and stuff after that.

I've been trying off and on for a month to get her iTunes music from her old Gateway into her MacBook. I have it all moved over to my less-old Gateway that I use for a server, so that each laptop and computer doesn't have to have a complete set of music files, which is actually over 20GB accumulated over the last 10 years, never mind the 6 or so GB in question, here.

MAC runs on OSX (a UNIX/LINUX derivative). Might it not need Samba installed to see and exchange files? I install Samba on my Linux boxes so they can talk to my XP boxes. ... JDH

So I was gonna be butting my head against the same problem if I'd put LINUX on my "server," too. I'll discuss that with her; if it were my laptop, I'd have no compunction against just throwing software on and seeing what happens...

I'll update if I get it on, whether it works or not.
