Thinkpad T61 X3100, which leopard version to install?

#1 Post by tecrose » Wed Nov 12, 2008 1:16 pm

Hello everyone :D I bought a Thinkpad T61, Model # 7658 and I'd like to install leopard on it. I had some experience with osx86, but that was a long time ago (specifically 10.4.3 era). I searched around and found that there are numerous versions of leopard installation images around and got quite confused. So I'd like to hear from you guys about the selection of versions (or distros, shall we say).

Spec:

Intel Core 2 Duo T8100 2.1 GHz, 800 MHz FSB
Intel 965 chipset with firewire
GMA X3100
Thinkpad a/b/g wireless mini-pci
Not sure about ethernet

So what you think? Thank you!

If you look at the thinkpad in my signature, I've had the best luck with the Kalyway 10.5.2 ISO.

Thanks. Is your audio working? Ethernet? What kind of patches do I need to select when installing? Anything else to pay attention to?

Cheers :D

I got Ethernet working, with a patch I got from www.insanelymac.com 's forums. Bluetooth and wireless worked for me out of the box, and I have yet to get audio working(which I see as a plus in some cases haha). I installed the sleep kernel, and the appropriate drivers you see in the menu. I.E. Intel GMA X3100 etc, there's also an acpi/battery driver I got from Insanely Mac. Really great indeed. I still prefer Linux to do any real work, but this is great to show off.
