First, what is OS-X? I'm guessing it's a version of Mac OS, but I could be wrong. I hope itis because I'm pretty mad at Windows but I like Thinkpad Hardware.

What are the recomended system requirements for OS-X?

If it won't work on my upgraded 770Z, are earlier versions of Mac OS available for IBM/intel?

If it is Mac OS, and I install it on a PC, do I use Mac software or Windows software?

OSX will need a newer set of hardware to be compatible. The earlier versions will not work because of the way the processors work. You use Mac programs in Mac operating systems. If you really hate your windows that much, try Debian or Ubuntu.

Full name of the OS is Mac OS X (X standing for 10 here, simply because it directly followed the Mac OS 9 release).

OS X is the first version of Mac OS that is able to run on PC hardware without hardware emulation. This is because of the decision Apple made a couple of years ago to switch new Mac's hardware to almost the same as used in PCs, the main part being the CPU (processor) change from PowerPC to Intels.

Applications are normally OS dependent which means that you run Mac software on a Mac OS and Windows software on Windows.

Can't help with requirements, personally I haven't yet tried Mac OS on a ThinkPad.

With regards to CPU specs: If you want to run the "vanila" kernal (original, unmodified OSX kernal) you would need an Intel CPU that supports SSE3 instructions.... so an Intel Core Duo (Yonah) at minimum?

But with a modified kernal (XNU/others?) you can run OSX on an Intel CPU that only supports SSE2 instructions as well as on AMD CPU's.

RAM: I've only tried OSX with 1gig of ram and it seemed to run quite well.

All else: Check Insanley Macs OSX86 forum section for threads about compatible hardware - everything on my T60p, except my Intel 3945ABG wireless card (known issue), seemed to work with Leo4All v3.
