wake from sleep and sleep on lid close w/ T61

Hi, this is my first post on this forum.. I've tried going to insanelymac and infinitemac for help on this but so far no one has responded. I'm having a problem with my iatkos v7 install where my thinkpad will not sleep when I close the lid, and if I make it sleep by selecting sleep from the apple menu it will sleep, the half moon LED will flash (it didn't do this under windows.. what does a flashing half moon LED mean?) but it won't wake up no matter what I do. I have to hold down the power button to kill all power and then press it again to start it up.
Does anyone have any idea of what to do about this, or where I should look to figure out why its happening? I've tried using the console to view logs, but it doesn't show anything about sleep.
