PCMCIA issues w/ 10.5.5 (via iatkos v5i) on G40

#1 Post by emoticonartist » Sun Feb 07, 2010 2:28 am

Amazingly enough I got my iAtkos v5i (10.5.5.) to install on my thinkpad G40 but I'm missing the most crucial part, wireless internet!

I've been scouring thru multiple forums to get the PCMCIA slot to work but to no avail. I've replaced the IOPCCardFamily & IOPCIFamily kexts w/ the ones I found in the 1st post in this thread here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index. ... opic=81036 to see if I can get 10.5.5. to recognize my Linksys PCIMCIA WPC55AG card.

After replacing the kext's and rebooting, I notice the wireless card lights up but, I get a kernel panic. I tried booting in -f, -v, -s, but I get the "still waiting for root device" after the system tries to load the IOPCCard.

The kexts that I replaced seem to activate the PCMCIA slot (so I think since it lights up) but I can't fully boot into the OS! Is there something that I'm forgetting to do before replacing the kext's in the Extensions folder?
