Something unrelated to the recent support issues here, but perhaps nonetheless interesting for the future: When I looked into the different options for getting Wi-Fi to run on our X60 Tablets despite their unsupported Intel 3945s, I noticed that there's not only the IBM 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter II using the Atheros AR5004X chipset supported by OS X. According to ThinkWiki, Lenovo also has used the so-called ThinkPad 11a/b/g/n Wireless LAN Mini Express Adapter which - and this is my point - already supports the 802.11 n standard! It is also a Mini-PCI Express card and costs about 35 Euro on eBay.

So my idea is: If we already need to exchange our ThinkPad's Mini-PCI Express cards to get Wi-Fi under Snow Leopard working, wouldn't it be nice if we could upgrade our ThinkPads to have 802.11n, also under Snow Leopard? The support under Snow Leopard is somewhat unclear, some posts seem to indicate it actually is supported, others suggest it is not. On the hardware side, there are reports that people successfully use these cards in X60s. How many WLAN antenna cables are build into a X60 Tablet? You normally would need three to connect an 802.11n card adequately, wouldn't you?

Thanks a lot! - It's still a bit unclear to me though if this is the case for really all X60t's. The Maintenance Manual mentions machines with a third, white WLAN cable that might reside in a cable box, presumably below (?) the card (chapter 1120).

I also found two threads on a German ThinkPad forum which support this assumption: According to them, a X60 Tablet 6363-HAU obviously comes with three WLAN and two WWAN antennas. Furthermore, the starter of this thread writes his X60 Tablet 6363-CTO has the usual Intel 3945 and comes with three WLAN cables as well, one of them being stored unused in the already mentioned cable box (see above - it is not clear though from the post if that third WLAN cable is attached to a third antenna or if it's just a spare cable). Another post suggests using only two antennas with an 802.11 n card, which is said to only reduce the card's range, but not its power. Finally, there's another thread suggesting to simply use the ThinkPad's WWAN antenna cable as the third WLAN cable.

So, after all, there still seems hope and room for further research, I think ...

I've these errors since 10.6.2, I also tried VoodooTSCSyn.kext, but it doesn't seem to work on CoreDuo ... even with this kext loaded (/E/E) ... I still have these error in my log ...

One possible reason could be: AppleACPIPS2Nub.kext isn't properly unloaded during the attempt to sleep and/or doesn't properly get reloaded on wakeup (there are numerous other reasons for your problem, of course, but that's the first one that comes to my mind). To investigate that further, could you provide us with a few things?

- Which ThindPad model do you have (e.g. 6363-2AG) and how much RAM does your R60 have?
- Your R60 comes with a Core 2 Duo processor, right? Did you choose Sebinouse's Core2Duo-package accordingly?
- To which hibernationmode did you set your ThinkPad?
- Could you post the part of your System log (from the OS X Console application) that is created during the time of your attempt to send your ThinkPad to sleep? See here for an example.

I will say that the machine when it goes to sleep and I try to wake it by hitting the power button, it seems to restart, then I get the bootloader screen and then a greyscreen with my desktop seen through it. And then the this reloops and on and on. But when I take the HD out the system, run pfix on it, it boots back right up, no problem.

Also looking for the proper VooddooHDA for this machine that has micin working, if anyone has that.

I've replaced wi-fi card from intel 4965AG (no 'N' here) to APPLE AR5BXB72 AR5008 802.11N

It can work in 5GHz or in 2.4 GHz mode, but a bit later about that...

As fo the SL installation:

I followed Sebinouse's guide from first post. There was 10.6.3 retail disk, and on step 2) there was screen divided by half and 1/4 and so on, with blue , white and other colors

so I decided to boot in 64 mode - and screen was perfect but no mouse no keyboard, even no USB mouse ...

so than I changed DSDT.aml with the one provided by Anastasius

and so I finished Guide at step 3)
No Updates, Sleep/Wake fixes yet

What I have now
1) wi-fi is working
in System Profiler in Hardware/Ethernet section it shows as 'Atheros AR5212 802.11abg NIC'

and in Net/AirPort all is correct - AR5416 802.11a/b/g/n and so on

tests shows me :
802.11n 2.4GHz Download ~70 Mbps , Upload ~50 Mbps
802.11n 5GHz Download ~80 Mbps , Upload ~ from few Kbps to few Mbps (Upload is very bad)

As for the X61T at all
1) brightness changing works with ScrLk and Pause, but how! fading goes from left down corner to right top, it's terrible looking ;(
on linux or windows all is OK
2) trackpoint, kb, GMA X3100 (QE, OpenGL 2.1) work
3) USB, Sound, Digitizer, - NO
4) BatteryMeter, WiFi, BT, CPU Termal monitoring - OK
5) according to Guide p-states, c-states work

Just an update to say that I've tried this package http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=86059 It's the third post by Silencer. I'm using both kexts from there and everything seems to be working.

I used to be able to single-click a folder to open it, but that's gone now. Maybe someone has suggestion.

I'm also using the VoododHDA from the first post here. I don't have internal mic input. Any help folks, please.

Report on sleep:

If the screen goes black to sleep and I touch the trackpad, it comes back from sleep without an issue. So the problem seems to be when it goes to sleep for a long time. The hibenation mode is now set to 1.

Does sleep work with ApplePS2Controller ? Your trackpad won't work with the kexts from the MacPNT parckage as there is no trackpad on X60t and I had to delete one plugin to make the trackpoint and the keyboard work ...
Utranavi is a plugin made by AdidasPrince, to make middle button and scrolling with trackpoint work ... Only available with VoodooPS2Controller ... HERE

No, I've not. I've tried the one by the Great Gatsby earlier in this thread, but adding a line different from this one. Maybe I should give this a try also. It won't hurt.

I've just tried ApplePS2Controller from the first post on this thread and it does not work. Using trackpad to move mouse does not work. Going back to voodooPS2.

The files you linked here are the ones I'm using. I'd mentioned this in an update. I was not able to see if ApplePS2controller work with sleep because mouse did not work. So I removed it and went to using the files in the link here that has AdidasPrince's driver. And that's working. I reported this earlier.

Our hardwares seem to be the same, except for the trackpad. You can use this PS2 kext instead.

Try to reinstall sleepwatcher (both packages) and add VoodooPS2Controller in rc.sleep/wakeup ... and it should be OK.

A kext is nothing more than a folder with sub-folders and files in it. It is only displayed as a single file by the Macintosh Finder. However, you can circumvent the Finder's default behavior and view the kext's contents from the its context menu (right-click) by choosing "Show contents" (... or similar - I don't want to switch languages and logout/re-login right now to see what the English menu item is). Inside this structure of folders, you will find a .plist file modified by Sebinouse to enable Mic-in.

Edit: I'm a bit confused about whether the '257'-value stands for a Core 2 Solo or a Core Solo. AsereBLN actually lists it as the correct value for a Core Solo. If your CPU is currently reported as a Core 2-something CPU, you could try to remove the value for SMcputype from smbios.plist to check whether AsereBLN's auto-detection is able to identify your CPU. If that doesn't work, either, you could try the '257'-value. It has to be said, however, that this is only cosmetic and has no real impact on your system's performance.

I did not set the "hibernatemode". Assistance on this will be great.

Sebinouse had posted an URL to an article about the different hibernatemodes above. In short, they determine how your ThinkPad goes to sleep and in what kind of sleep it goes. You can display your machine's current hibernatemode using the Mac OS X Terminal:

On particular configurations of RAM, only very specific hibernatemodes seem to work, e.g. on my X60 Tablet with three Gigabytes of RAM where sleep will only work using hibernatemode 1 (at least for the moment, hopefully there will be a workaround for this in the future). For further information, also have a look at Sebinouse's post on this here on the forum.

Concerning your system log: - Wow, these are quite a number of errors in it. I can't comment on every single line, but there's obviously still a problem with SleepWatcher, so I'd recommend you try the complete SleepWatcher re-install first that Sebinouse has already proposed above.

The VoodooHDA in the macPNT package is the one I'm using. I'm not sure about the custom "info.plist" you mentioned, what does that mean. Silencer has tons of post here, could you please send the link to his instruction.

I will remove the VoodooPS2controller that is bundled with UltraNavi driver made by AdidasPrince that I'm using now. And then I will install this one. Though you've not said if this is connected with the sleep issue. If it's not, I'm fine with the one you suggested earlier and that I'm currently using (UltraNavi driver made by AdidasPrince) Please clarify, if you can.

As you may have noticed from the log, I currently have Sleepwatcher 2.1 installed, which was an upgrade from 2.0.5 that is in the MacNT package. I'm not quite sure how to downgrade from 2.1 back to the version that's in the folder you started this post with.
Please offer suggestions. And I will add VoodooPS2Controller for sure to both rc's.

Can I share my dsdt with you guys. It was borrowed from someone's R60 that has Radeon Video card. Could this be the source of the many errors Gatbsy the Great talks about?

you can keep any VoodooPS2 that is already working for you ... (there is no need to take this one)

I used to have sleep issues with PS2 driver, so I had to use the sleepwatcher trick.

Another issue is RAM. If you have 1 or 2 GB you can set hibernation mode to 1 or 3. If you have 3GB or more you have to set hibernation mode to 1.

About your DSDT, Did you tried my DSDT for the X60t ? If you want to make our own DSDT you can read Silencer's thread and mix yours with mine.

Mine is Core Solo

Yes, I downloaded your system report and it's indeed a T1300 Core Solo. If you want to have your CPU reported correctly in the "About this Mac" dialog - albeit only a cosmetic issue -, you could insert the correct SMcputype value into smbios.plist. Core 2 Solo should be

Unfortunately, I don't have the correct value for a plain Core Solo - maybe someone else on this board has?

Edit: I'm a bit confused about whether the '257'-value stands for a Core 2 Solo or a Core Solo. AsereBLN actually lists it as the correct value for a Core Solo. If your CPU is currently reported as a Core 2-something CPU, you could try to remove the value for SMcputype from smbios.plist to check whether AsereBLN's auto-detection is able to identify your CPU. If that doesn't work, either, you could try the '257'-value. It has to be said, however, that this is only cosmetic and has no real impact on your system's performance.

I did not set the "hibernatemode". Assistance on this will be great.

Sebinouse had posted an URL to an article about the different hibernatemodes above. In short, they determine how your ThinkPad goes to sleep and in what kind of sleep it goes. You can display your machine's current hibernatemode using the Mac OS X Terminal:

pmset -g | grep hibernatemode

On particular configurations of RAM, only very specific hibernatemodes seem to work, e.g. on my X60 Tablet with three Gigabytes of RAM where sleep will only work using hibernatemode 1 (at least for the moment, hopefully there will be a workaround for this in the future). For further information, also have a look at Sebinouse's post on this here on the forum.

Concerning your system log: - Wow, these are quite a number of errors in it. I can't comment on every single line, but there's obviously still a problem with SleepWatcher, so I'd recommend you try the complete SleepWatcher re-install first that Sebinouse has already proposed above.

How can I downgrade, remove, complete uninstall of Sleepwatcher 2.1? It's not a visible kext I can just delete. I can remove the rc's but there's more to it than that...please help.

I'm not in front of my ThinkPad right now, but as far as I remember there are un-install instructions in the SleepWatcher 2.1 install package from the author's site. He lists what you need to remove from your system to un-install version 2.1, I believe. Have a look at the package's readme file.

I have grabbed all the files. I put the plist into the VoodooADA kexts. Installed that and the prepane. I get a lot of registry type errors and no sound. Can someone with my soundcard share their plist please. I have my complete hardware info here.

Also, since you guys saw my console output, and with Gatsby the Great saying that's quite a lot of errors. I was wondering if you doctors would suggest how I could go about fixing those errors. A reminder this is a vanilla install with Myhack, added some kexts and a dsdt from another R60. Should I try the dsdt in the MacPNT package, and if so which one? What other files from that great package should I have in this laptop...thanks a lot, a billion, guys!

This entire thread is about the installation method from the first post, not every method ! We can't help you if we don't have the same data !

So PLEASE follow this guide and then report back ... (we have almost the same hardware)

Once again every single detail relies on another ... for instance PowerManagement is related to the DSDT, the choice of the bootloader, the smbios file and one kext ... and it is one example among others !
