Try booting again from USB; then when you see the HD appear in the middle of the screen, hit any key, and choose the HD where you installed OS X. Once there, run the kext utility again, then reboot. It's not at all unusual to have a bit of a problem 1st boot.

I tried this, but the unfortunately the problem is with DSDT file (gma3100) , because i hear sound (volume up and down) but i don't see anythingphubai wrote:Try booting again from USB; then when you see the HD appear in the middle of the screen, hit any key, and choose the HD where you installed OS X. edit:
after 100 restarts system I finally found a method to boot - I have to enter the DSDT=/Extra/DSDTstable.aml and wait until run circle stops, then starts normally
very strange

I've had the same grey screen after installation on my T60.
You need to add to your /Extra/com.apple.boot.plist this code:
To do that, i've used my external monitor (connect it before turning on your thinkpad).
Maybe in "Single user mode" you can use some kind of "vim"-editor, but i dont know if it exist (or if you know what are you doing - try to boot into ubuntu, install hfsutils, hfsprogs, hfsplus packages, check for errors with fsck_hfs, then mount hfs+ partition, and add those strings to plist file)
Or, maybe, you can patch your DSDT, but i don't know how

Re: 10.6.X on X60/T60/X61 (CoreDuo, Core2Duo / GMA950, GMA3100)
I'm just becoming interested in setting up a dual- or triple-boot system for my X60T, but I don't have a Mac OSX 10.6 disk. I'm about to buy one somewhere, but do I need to get the 10.6.0 disk specifically? Or can I use the latest 10.6.x disk available from Apple?
If I need the 10.6.0 disk specifically, is there a part number I can search for to make sure I get the right one?
Thanks,
Phil.

Re: 10.6.X on X60/T60/X61 (CoreDuo, Core2Duo / GMA950, GMA3100)
This depends on whether you want to partition your hard disk using a GUID Partition Table (GPT) or a MBR Partition Table: If you decide for a GPT, you can simply buy the Mac OS X Snow Leopard Retail box without paying any attention to the question which pressing (= version) it contains. If you however want to use a MBR Partition Table, for instance because Windows XP is rather annoying to be set up with a GPT (I've published an article about that elsewhere), you will need to prepare a custom install medium from your Snow Leopard Install DVD by adding the capacity to the Mac OS X installer to install to an MBR partitioned hard disk. The resources to do that are included in Sebinouse's package, so you should have a look at them and see which Snow Leopard versions can be used with them (currently 10.6.0 and 10.6.3 I believe).pkiff wrote:I'm just becoming interested in setting up a dual- or triple-boot system for my X60T, but I don't have a Mac OSX 10.6 disk. Re: 10.6.X on X60/T60/X61 (CoreDuo, Core2Duo / GMA950, GMA3100)
hey guys, I really think this is a great Project, I had prior success installing OSX on a Pentium 4 Desktop as well as my Thinkpad T40
I have now ordered my Thinkpad X60T (ebay 160€
) just because of this project ..
I also own a real MacBook pro .
but here comes my first Problem, I cannot Boot from the USB drive after applying the chameleon Patch, before applying any patches I can boot from it and install OSX but as soon as I apply the patches my USB drive is non-bootable anymore, the funny thing is in OSX system settings I can set my startup disk to be the USB drive but, i won't actually boot from it ... also when I press alt during boot the usb drive never shows up as a choice to boot from, I also tried to boot of another USB HDD with no success either .
is there anyway I can force to boot from the USB Drive?
Update: with Charmeleon R5 , my USB key is bootable again, but its not starting the setup its stuck at the grey screen /Apple Logo ... can I somehow boot the installer in verbose mode?

Thanks to the wonderful guide I have been running 10.6.6 on my X60 c2d tablet for a few weeks now, and it is working perfectly. Including tablet support, 1400x1050, etc.
For the time being I used a USB wifi stick for wireless networking because of the integrated non-recognized Intel wifi card.
Today I replaced the card with the official IBM Atheros Wifi AR5BXB6 card that I believe is supported by Os X ? The card is working perfectly in my Windows 7 install on the same machine, but Os X decides not to boot anymore. I can only boot in safe mode. I get the following exception:
Does somebody has any idea what is going wrong?

Yes, on the ThinkPad, of course (okay, I now see where the problem was). Chameleon was written to give Hackintoshes an equivalent to your MacBook's EFI that's simply not present on a ThinkPad. It won't work with a real Intel Macintosh.finnschi wrote:but I am doing it on a REAL macBook Pro!.. or am I supposed to do step 2 on the Thinkpad?!?
Re: 10.6.X on X60/T60/X61 (CoreDuo, Core2Duo / GMA950, GMA3100)
I've got an X61 tablet (1400x1050 screen, WACF008) I just picked up that seems to be largely up and running with 10.6.6 based on the instructions here, but I'm having trouble getting TabletMagic (2.0b17d2) to work. I've got the tablet enabler kext loading, serial0 shows up in TabletMagic, the messages TabletMagic sends to the console all seem fine (no obvious errors except for an intermittent error with renice that does not otherwise seem to affect loading), but I get absolutely no response to the tablet pen with nothing at all changing in the testing tab.
What should I try next? Am I missing something obvious?
edit: I can verify that data of some sort is coming from the tablet digitizer: if I run "cat /dev/cu.serial0" I get various junk printed to the terminal in reaction to putting the tablet pen in proximity to the screen, moving it, tapping, etc.

Re: 10.6.X on X60/T60/X61 (CoreDuo, Core2Duo / GMA950, GMA3100)
First off, THANK YOU Sebinouse, and the entire osx86 movement, for giving your time to help us noobs out. I successfully installed SL 10.6.6 on my X60s following the instructions provided. It works better than I expected. I did a couple things differently though. For some reason I had to boot the installer using -v cpus=1. Also, instead of using an external hard drive, I performed the install with my HDD installed already, then booted into SL using the bootloader on the USB Drive. Then I did the rest of the steps (installed bootloader on HDD etc.). Also, I used VoodooHDA 2.7.2 because updating to 10.6.6 broke my audio. Otherwise, updates worked fine, with the pfix provided.
Thanks Again!
Thanks Again!
Re: 10.6.X on X60/T60/X61 (CoreDuo, Core2Duo / GMA950, GMA3100)
Just wanted to add a thank-you for the guide and to everyone else who contributes such valuable information. I'm running 10.6.3 on a T60p and am a little surprised at how stable and performant the machine is. I basically started with this guide and ended with Silencer's excellent DSDT post (http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=85344).
The only glitch I've seen so far is that the chipset on my wifi card is the unsupported Intel flavor, so I'm hitting the wireless network with a Netgear WG111 USB adapter. Everything else is great...1400x1050 is crisp, multitouch trackpad works, and so does audio. I'm curious about 10.6.6 but honestly a bit nervous about breaking a machine that's running so well.
I haven't really used Macs much...I needed a box to publish iBooks from...and I'm really struck by how similar the OS is to Linux, which I've used for 15 years or so. I knew that MacOS was basically a Mach kernel with a windowing system but now that I've been playing with KEXTs and patches and such the similarities are really comforting.

Re: 10.6.X on X60/T60/X61 (CoreDuo, Core2Duo / GMA950, GMA3100)
As a followup to my previous post, I used Carbon Copy to clone the 10.6.3 install to an external drive, then updated the external drive to 10.6.6. No surprises, had to deselect S/L/E/AppleHDA.kext to get sound to work properly, other than that everything simply worked. The Mac App store is quite nice. Cloned the external drive to the internal, reinstalled the boot loader just in case, fixed permissions, and done.

My Thinkpad is a X61T Type 7764. The Atheros card is an 80211bg FRU number 39T5578.
I have the same boot error as a couple of others here using the Atheros wifi card. This card works fine in Windows 7. I even pulled the Atheros card out of my old T60 Hackintosh 10.58 machine and get the same error. I've tried 3 different Atheros cards. If I remove the Atheros card, OSX boots up, but with no network support, not even ethernet. This is on a 10.6.6 system.
Any ideas or suggestions for troubleshooting ?
I'm thinking of removing the Atheros section in the LegacyX60.kext and adding entries in the S/L/E libraries, i.e the original way.

Update on the Atheros wifi issue on my X61T.
Removed Atheros section from Legactx60t.kext and edited /s/l/e/IO80211Family.kext to add the pci168c,1014 entries. No go, still won't boot.
So I reinstalled on another drive with my 10.6.0 DVD. Used the Extra folder from this thread and the Atheros card works. Still no ethernet.
Installed the 10.6.3 combo update and get same error as before. System won't boot and gets errors on Atheros driver. I notice that the 80211Family.kext now has 2 Atheros plugins, AirportAtheros.kext and AirportAtheros21.kext. Then I replace the 10.6.3 IO80211Family.kext with the 10.6.0 version.
Reboot and still no joy. Reboot again in 32 bit mode and it works.
Also on 10.6.3, VooDooHDA.kext will not load in either 32 or 64 bit mode. I don't recall if it loaded on 10.6.0.
So for this card is there a mismatch between the new IO80211Family.kext format and the Legacy60T.kext ? When was the AirportAtheros21.kext added, 10.6.2 or 10.6.3 ?
