Same as you, I don't have hdmi cable. What I mean is use DB-15 vga cable to connect a tv or projector. I need to do this by presenting my powerpoint to customer.

I don't know how to use the card reader even it seems to be supported native. When I inserted a SD card, nothing happen. I paste below.

After I installed the Nvenabler.kext, my power manager is same as you. Can't power off. Evoreboot.kext already be placed in /Extra/Extensions

Hey guys, I'm thinking to hook up the w510 with osx too. So I know the video card is going to work, according to the osx86's wiki, and audio too. But what about mic and webcam? Anyone tested it yet? I just made the wrong decision on buying xps 16 thinking that i can hook up a good hackintosh laptop (gonna return it soon). I did some research here..i saw someone said mic will work but i need some confirmation.

Can anyone confirm this? I just want to do more research before I did another stupid mistake again.

Do you think you could email me your kexts for trackpad, and SD card reader. Mine don't completely work like yours. I'm about to buy ExpressCard based flash, and see if that works... Other than that it looks like fully functional macbook with lots of juice...

I don't install any extension kexts for trackpad and SD card reader. I don't know whether ApplePS2Controller.kext drives trackpad. For SD card reader, I don't think it's been supported correctly for I can't use it.

BTW, I use iATKOS S3 v2 as install image.

I'd like to report I installed 10.6.5 combo (from 10.6.3) without any trouble. The kext's im using, Voodoo battery, hda, ps2 and IntelE1000e were all unaffected. It actually fixed a stability problem where graphics would lock up within a few minutes on 2/3 boots. It also could be my imagination but the screen seems to be at full brightness instead of dimmed like it was with 10.6.3. Pleasantly surprised.

last update, I drive the usb 3.0 successfully now.

LaCie release a USB3.0 card which uses NEC's chip. W510 also use NEC's chip in his USB3.0 port. So I guess they can use same driver. I download the driver from LaCie. Try and it works fine.

NVM~ I got it switch back to Intel HDA analog instead of using nvidia HDMI digital.

Has it been confirmed that the bios listed within removes the whitelist? I have been searching on the forums here and allover for one. Were there any weird symptoms from the patch? Sorry for the questions, but I want to make sure your patch is good before bricking my brand new 510. Also, sorry this is a bit off your thread topic!

The patched bios works great, not any weird symptoms.

I can confirm that your BIOS does work.

I ended up getting the newer one form another friendly forum. If you want the newer BIOS, I have it. It is version 1.34 for the N and 1.35 for the L BIOS. I have it installed now and it works.

Also in response to the issue about the HDMI port on the side of W510, the reason you do not recognize the interface is because it is the next gen Hi-def port. This new port is not in the hdmi family. It is called DisplayPort (hence the big ""D"), and has its own VESA standard.

It has been out since 2006, but hasn't been used widely until recently. My guess is the royalty contracts on hdmi for most mfg's are coming up and DisplayPort is royalty-free, so re-tooling for it becomes cheaper and justifiable when contracts are up. does anyone have an iOS device and is it recognized with the itunes on the W510?

my iphone 4 and iphone 3g aren't detected by itunes and only gives an "unknown error" and cannot mount or connect. i'm thinking its using an incompatible kext; but any other usb device and drives work fine. the iphone shows up in system profiler also and syncs ok on my windows 7 machine.

i've installed osx on my ultrabay drive version 10.6.3 using iBoot, then updated to 10.6.5 and ran multibeast with the EasyBeast setting.

can you confirm if your device works properly with itunes; then i could start troubleshooting and knowing its not a hardware incompatibility issue. thanks!

Sorry, been offline. I can confirm it works and boots past whitelist, but I am not sure on the specifics beyond that. My card has strange behavior, but I don't know whether it is the laptop since its the first time I tried.

It boots up fine into windows with my intel 6300 Ultimate-N OEM branded and my OEM branded MC8790V.
From there the intel 6300 works fine and works within Access Connex, and FN+F5. No issues here.

The WWAN gets shaky, but I believe in this case it is the card. It has never worked with FN+F5 because it is beyond IBM's sierra card usage (e.g. there is no IBM/Lenovo branded card). Basically what I am seeing is the card works fine, establishes a connection and I can browse for a while. After ten minutes, it drops, goes to airplane mode, turns the radio back on, and then I reconnect. Does this a few more times and finally goes into Low Power Mode effectively throwing a hardware off that I cannot combat except by shutting off completely then turning back on. I also checked the error log and see intermittent errors adding up so it could be the card itself.

Again in the case of my WWAN card, I believe it is the card or card/laptop combo. The electrical spec for the card shows many voltages being a max 2.6V instead 3.33. It supposedly follows Mini PCIe spec 1.2, but all I could get a hold of is 1.0 and that spec confirms the bus voltages are weird (supposing they do not change). The previous laptop was a T61 which was c.2007 so it may have worked fine. Should have just bought the Gobi when I bought the laptop...

I leave it to you to decide whether to use it...

EDIT: Also, there are two cycles of 5 beeps and a 3-5 second delay at power on. Don't know why. This was the same with the previous hacked BIOS. It comes and goes. I have not looked into the behavior. My guess is it is some kind of mechanism that says the BIOS is not lenovo or something if you were to ever send it back with that BIOS on it. I could see that as a new feature since they're laptops are being hacked left and right. If you have POST, but your laptop needs to get fixed by lenovo, make sure you flash back to an official one so they don't dispute your warranty with you...

Also bios author's working with me to get another one made up. They make them up with specific hardware ID's custom for you...

As I knew,the WWAN slot should be a USB interface but use mini pci's physical interface. Maybe you can check it in Windows system. Pls. correct me if I misunderstand it.

I am not an expert but my device follows the standard 52 pin layout of the mini pci-express spec v.1.2. It does have a USB output option consisting of two hadware USB data pins/PCI-express pins. The USB transceiver draws power off the Vcc pin. Conceivably I could drive the 5.0V USB power down with a resistive divider to 3.33V and patch the data pins to their respective USB pins, and there is a mfg driver to do this but I am unsure of the effects on functionality. This would make it a dongle but I would need other hardware like antenna, audio jacks, low/high-pass filters for the audio, some sort of pinout to establish a UART loopback to pipe the AT serial data through the USB connection. I'd also need an onboard USIM pinned to the card. What I need is a custom driver that will interface an API to control certain hardware pins through the windows Kernel...Then I could set pins like W_Disable. Everything else is handled through the UART, but if you can't see it, you can't use it. In a perfect world...

To answer your question the electrical and functionality as a whole on this card is a bit more then the 2 USB/PCI-ex data pins. I know there are 4 Analog audio pins, there are multiple GPIO's on bus, there is a reference voltage output, an ADC pin for measuring transients on the bus, the USB MUX pins, 4 PCM ports, and a fully wired UART plus various grounds and Vcc pins. In addition there is the USIM interface. I believe it uses almost every pin. It is more closely related to an embedded controller than just a simple cellular device. The older cards like the MC8765 have a vastly simpler (< 25% pin usage, mostly Vcc's and gnds) and are more easily integrated into a single USB dongle. The Mfg makes an SDK kit that includes a board to which the card attaches but for general use it is big, bulky, and requires antennas (unlike the built-in ones in the laptop). It is also $300, so in total the system costs $400 for mobile internet. Not very practical as said.

The kit allows use of everything and connects to the PC via USB. Laptop does the same in a smaller footprint with less connections, granted their are proprietary mechanisms in place; I can deal.

Device manager lists two devices on two different root bridges. One is on the PCI Root bridge (NDIS controller), the other is on the USB root bridge. It is the QM57 Chipset: http://www.intel.com/Assets/PDF/datasheet/322169.pdf

I am slowly resolving the issues. The card is functioning, but shutdown/startup is still bugged. Thinking issue lies with power states, since I cannot send a manual reset gracefully to the hardware either. Know anything about writing drivers? PM me. I want to write an upper filter driver for the audio pins on this card so i can use a headset for voice calls.

10.6.5 is working on my T410 now.

CPU/VGA/Sound/LAN OK
bluetooth/camera/fingerprint OK

But there are some problems here:
sleep - it's ok but waking as soon as it slept & screen will turn into the highest bright level
touchpad - can only use one finger, two finger function doesn't work.
bright adjust - doesn't work

So some updates, I installed the newest update. Seems to be more stable. Geekbench around 6700.

So whats not working:

Shut Down (screen shuts off and still power to laptop)
My pointer stick don't work nor the mouse for the pointer stick.
Wireless network don't work.

that's all I can think off now..anyone know any solutions? Anyone.

I've followed this with interest as I've been trying to get SL on my W510 which has been driving me mad!

The issue I have is the the installation GUI and the main SL OS GUI are incredibly unresponsive, takes minutes to show a single drop down menu and no screen refresh. it took me 2 hours to format the disk!!!

I disabled all the Virtualisation settings and USB/Device in BIOS, speedstep - off etc etc with no diff.

any ideas, I'm thinking about a BIOS upgrade to see if that makes any diff, anyone have exact working BIOS settings for me?

That's really strange, I had none of those problems. Were you getting issues in Windows too? What install method are you using?
