Shut Down Problem on Thinkpad W510

I got Leopard installed..when I shut down the lcd screen turns off but system is still getting power.
I am looking for a solution..please help if you know the fix.

I have this problem too, on SL 10.6.6/10.6.7.

This is most likely a problem in your bootloader (updating it to the latest version should fix any issues).
Also if you start your machine with a -v kernel flag on boot, you should be able to see if anything else is keeping the machine from shutting down.

Same issue here with a ThinkPad T410. The power LED turns off, but the wireless LEDs and the fan remain on until I turn the T410 off manually. Verbose mode (-v) shows me "CPU halted" before the screen turns off during shutdown, but it just won't turn off.
Funny thing I noticed while repairing the OS X installation using an old iBoot disk (iBoot-Intel GMA HD image 2): If I boot OS X using that disk, it also shows me "CPU halted" before the screen turns off on shutdown, but then, it turns off correctly.
The bootloader on the hard disk is the current Chameleon RC5 by tonymacx86.com, I'll try using the version from the iBoot disk to see if that'll change anything.
