Hello All,

I am new in this field. I 'd like to learn how to to tune my T60 8741 and fix all remaining problems.

My T60 (2005) is equipped with a Swiss French keyboard and the T60 type is 8741 G5G (seems not so common) .

I have installed MAC OS 10.6.3 with IATKOS s3.


It is more or less functional, the main issue I have is that the keyboard , the mouse and the trackpad are not at all working (I use USB keyboard/mouse instead).

The sound is ok, the ethernet card also, I will enhance the display resolution which is currently Resolution: 1024 x 768


I have browsed several forums and I have tried several tips but without success : /

I am lost with voodoo, ApplePS2 ... Could anyone give the right way to fix this?

The T7600 is a Core 2 Duo Processor, which is capable of 64-bit instructions (unlike the regular Core 2 Duo chips). Your problem may be due to mismatch of 32/64-bit kexts. Try downloading the latest version of the drivers (just Google VoodooPS2), and install XCode (it's on the Mac OS X Installation DVD) in order to compile the sources. You should be able to get it work from the sources. Make sure to update your kext cache once you install it (and fix permissions if need be).

What I did was use my old hard drive and just tinkered with the installation process and tweaking everything until I got a solid understanding of how everything worked. Once my test install was bootable, I stuck it inside an external USB case, and placed another hard drive with a working Windows XP install back into the main hard drive bay. That way, I could boot OS X via USB, and if need be I can switch back to Windows XP for when something goes wrong. After a few weeks of tinkering, I finally got the gist of everything and my setup the way I want it. Then I bought a 500GB hard drive and did my "real" install. I saved all my kexts, etc and then started a fresh install on the new hard drive.

Each installation method will have its own quirks and what-not, so take say 2-3 weeks on just figuring out your setup. Once you have something that you are happy with, do fresh install and then fix it up to look like your desired setup.

Right now, the problem for most beginners is the fact that there are way too many different installations techniques, with way too many custom kexts that it becomes overwhelming. Which kext should I use? And what does that kext do? Why is it that some installation methods require this text and others do not? Most of my time was wasted on trying to figure out what someone's custom kext was doing to my system (e.g. RadeonHD vs ATIRadeonX1000, etc). In the end, I settled on making my own custom kexts and I am glad I did.

I think you have got the point, there are so many models of laptops (and desktops) , distribs , versions of kexts , ways of "hackintoshing". This means a lot of variables and a lot of potential troubles!

We have to (at least) get a good understanding of some basic things such as:
how to backup / restore data and especially our trials ( kexts working in a context, helping tools and soft)
how to test
how to diagnose

We have also to document what we do, otherwise after several actions/trials it's the mess and the disapointment.

Since my initial post, I have made some clean ups. In particular, I have remove all PS2 related kexts (in fact I have made some tars).

I have installed a simple and nice tool to diagnose my status about 32bits/64 bits
(32bit/64bit Kernel Startup mode selector)



In my case I have a 64 bit processor a 64 bit EFI a 64 bit kernel and I can boot either in 32bit or 64bit (both modes are ok).

I have installed Xcode from the CD
I have installed Fink to get svn (svn allows to get the source code of the Voodo stuff ( I have to dig now how to do it)

next step is to get the source and try to compile VoodooPS2 on my T60 to see if I can get a working kext
