Touchpad / Ultranav T60 Voodoo

Hey guys,

I am not sure if this is a bug or by design, but my problem is as follows:

Currently both the ultranav and touchpad work, including the associated buttons (even middle button of ultranav) and two-finger scrolling from touchpad. However, they cannot be used together. Example:

I try to select text using trackpoint to move mouse pointer and hold left button of ultranav down - text is selected.
I try to select text using touchpad to move mouse pointer and hold left button of touchpad down - text is selected.

I try to select text using touchpad to move mouse pointer and hold left button of ultranav down - cannot select text - mouse pointer moves but no text is selected. It seems that both methods of input cannot be "combined." Is there a solution to this (hopefully without losing two-finger scrolling)? The left click of my touchpad is semi-broken so I'm really used to using ultranav left click along with touchpad - never use the trackpoint though.
