G560 won't run on its own battery

G560 W7 64bit I3 processor 4GB ram.
It has been a long time since I posted here, I often have a read for info but I now have a problem I don't understand and don't seem to be able to find a simple fix for, let me explain.
I was given the G560 with a failed 250 GB HDD and no recovery media so I did a clean install of W7 and added all the Lenovo drivers and progs I could download or were added by system updater.
I now find the machine won't run on its battery, which the machine has fully charged and recognises in power management and says it in good health. I have confirmed its charge state by a battery voltage reading and an internal resistance check also passed, I have gently cleaned all of the battery terminals on both battery and computer still no joy. Computer runs fine on external pwr but just won’t run on its own battery, which I did see it do before the HDD totally failed, click of death!
Any ideas would be helpful as I can’t come up with any despite a good scratch of both upper and lower motivation areas
Many thanks
Graeme
