[n100] power management and battery time

Hello,
I recently sold my old Asus and bought Lenovo N100. I like the design - especially the keyboard.
My model hasn't got Windows pre-installed - I got my own license. I simply downloaded ThinkVantage System Update and it downloaded drivers. Now, everything is working fine but I don't like or understand two things:
1) power management software - is there any? There is a Windows control panel feature called "Power management" but this is far to low - i wish i could do some profiles with ability to change max speed of cpu and brightness (so i could decrease it if running on battery) - i'm suprised it didn't come with drivers - my 2 years asus had it alredy (profiles like office when cpu was set to 400 MHz or something),
2) battery time remaining - it didn't show me remaining time. I also downloaded BatteryInfo software as mentioned in other thread but it says "remaining time could not be retrieved". Is anything can be done to retrieve it? I don't like calculations like "25% is half and hour with wifi but 45 minutes without it"
Sorry for my bad english - hope you can read it
Best regards,
