I recently bought a logitech Vx revoution wireless mouse.
When my N100 with Win Xp pro comes out of standby (or hibernation (and I am distinguishing the two)), the composite usb device that is the receiver for the mouse is missing from the device manager, and I have to unplug the usb receiver and plug it back in again to get it working.
Microsoft has KB871233 about this, the only workaround that appears usefull is to uncheck the power savings box in the properties for each of the usb root hubs. I tried this and it doesn't work.
I called Logitech and the service rep was useless, saying I needed new intel usb drivers. He is too dumb, since the chipset is an Intel 945gm with Intel 82801g (ICH7) usb hubs, but all the drivers for the hubs are Microsoft, and Microsoft does not have any newer usb drivers. I have a KB hotfix for usb power drain that gives me the latest Microsoft usb drivers. This does not help at all.



I called Lenovo, and the service rep said to go to the power savings tab in my power saving properties and tell the laptop not to go into standby! Duh, of course that is not the fix on battery power that I want. He was actually googling for Microsoft usb fixes while I was talking to him, rather than being able to pull anything from a Lenovo database.

It seems the quality of support from manufacturers these days is going down the tubes......

The only other thing I will try is to exchange the mouse and receiver for another one on the possibility that I have a defective receiver.

I would welcome any other ideas.

I finally found that using one and only one specific usb port of the 4 on the machine allows the mouse to run normally, working fine when it comes out of standby.

For those with n100's it is the port on the right side closest to the front (latch) of the machine.
