Laptop: Lenovo 3000 N100 (0768-A53) [Broadcomm wireless chipset]

Issue: Upon booting up and logging into Vista, about 80% seems to load up right away, then there's an annoying ~30 second delay (no hard drive activity, but computer seems responsive to the mouse) before the Windows sidebar is loaded up and the wireless driver seems to load up and wireless connect to my Linksys router. All other computers/laptops in the house are running WinXP and they wirelessly connect right away after logging into Windows XP (all running 54G wireless adapters).

I've tried disabling the sidebar, but the 30 second delay isssue persists. Does this occur in your N100 laptop as well?

Does anyone have any ideas as to what is causing this ~30 second delay before the wireless connection works after logging into Windows Vista? I noted someone having a similar issue on a Microsoft forum on Google but no one seems to have an answer. Ideally, I would love to just do a full, clean reformat of this laptop, but I don't have the recovery disk set (see my other post).

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

how are you guaging the ~30 seconds, what happens or doesn't happen that tells you it has / hasn't a connection?
If you're relying on the access connections to say that you have an IP address of xxx.yyy.zzz.123, this isn't a good measure, it's connected a long time before that.

I'm gauging 30s from the moment I get logged into Vista (wallpaper loads up, menus load up, etc.), and the hard drive stops accessing, then pause (30s), until the hard drive spins up again to load the remaining programs and the wireless icon finally denotes that I'm connected wirelessly and have obtained an IP address from my wireless router. In those 30s, I can not surf the internet, but I can start up Internet Explorer but it remains a blank page until the wireless connection is finally established.

FYI, I did uninstall the Lenovo Wireless Utility, so Windows Vista is managing my wireless connections (1 less thing to run), and I updated to the latest Broadcomm driver from Lenovo (wireless driver date November 06) (which results in my laptop NOT losing it's wireless connection, which it occasionally did when using the orginal driver dated from June 06).

Again, any thoughts? I may just reinstall the Lenovo Wireless utility again, but I really shouldn't have to do that.

Another thought, I know that Windows XP had a similar issue in that users reported delays of up to 1 minute before their computers would wirelessly connect. Microsoft issued a patch to fix this under Windows XP--I wonder if they've seen a simlar issue in Vista in sufficient quanitity yet?

My first post here, after a long way to read and learn a lot.

I've the same problem as you, after upgrading With Vista, I noticed a delay before wireless connection, that I didn't have with XP.

But, this is the only PC I work on with Vista, so, I don't worry, thinking it is normal...
I uninstall Lenovo Wireless utility (but same with), and use the last Intel wireless driver.

Maybe someone has the solution or the explanation... lets see.

Peaple... in intel website there a download for our device, a NEWER driver and software.

Some issues was resolved.
Make a search in intel website.
