Have you deleted or added ANY software to the machine, turned off any other services, as the error suggests a dependent service is not running or starting, go to event viewer in admin tools, under system look for Red X enntries and read up on those. Virus, spyware scans, etc.
Report back.
Also there is always system restore, if you have it turned on (I'm assuming your using windows) go back a ways and see what happens.

Have you ran the system restore? Maybe you could try running a repair install of Windows. I've had some weird issues with wireless before that I fixed with running one of those options. You should be able to run a repair of Windows from the recovery partition.

If you are running Windows XP, I saw this article recently which may help.
Langa Letter: XP's No-Reformat, Nondestructive Total-Rebuild Option
You could also try System File Checker. Go to Start > Run, and type in
SFC /scannow, then click on OK.
