Upgrading mobo

#1 Post by The Admiral » Wed Nov 14, 2007 2:23 pm

Well I got this new game, but my stupid integrated graphics card (GMA 950 - Intel 945 Chipset) can't handle it. Could I upgrade the mobo for better graphics? Here are the current important system specs:
Lenovo N100 0689-A6U
Intel Mobile 950 Chipset
41W1199 mobo (14W)

I'm looking to upgrade to a mobo with discrete nvidia graphics. (41W1201) As far as I can tell, it will fit. But the biggest difference I can see is the that the one I am upgrading from is a 14W board, while the one I want to upgrade to is a 15W board.

So my question, in short, is can I upgrade from the 41W1199 to the 41W1201 without killing anything? And I'm guessing I'll also have to buy the graphics card itself on top of the mobo.... :(

Thanks,
Steven T.

AFAIK, the graphics card is not really PCI-e in a sense that it's soldered onto the Planar card so the card would be included with it. Please refer to HMM to verify whether 15.4''W board will fit in 14.1''W 3000 machine:

Hardware Maintenance Manual - 3000 N100 (type 0689, 0768), N200 (type 0769).
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.
