stand by/ hibernation problem
stand by/ hibernation problem
Hi, has anyone had troubles going in and out of stand by or hibernation on Lenovo 3000 c100 laptop.
I recently got this issue but I don't remember of making any significant changes to the system - no new software, hardware, drivers are up to date...
Any ideas what can be the cause of that?

Folks here will better help you if you mention your Operating System. If you've Windows Vista installed then disable Hybrid Sleep to see if that makes any difference. Also consider looking at the following Knowledge Bases from Microsoft in GomJabbar's post.

I found the following tip from CNET that you might need a patch from Microsoft:
Lenovo 3000 V200.
Also look into:
How to troubleshoot hibernation and standby issues in Windows XP.
Microsoft Knowledge Bases on Hibernation Problems.
By the way I saw you posting on Microsoft TechNet, I wish you had better explained the specific hibernation problem here too, so look into the following kb from Microsoft as well, based on your description from that post:
"Preparing to hibernate", Computer Stops Responding When You Stand-by or Hibernate More Than One Time.

Thanks for the replies. It hasn't been me in MS TechNet
I tried everithing I could find on the Internet...with no luck. Next I'll try reinstall the OS.
One more question. Do you happen to know a way to reinstall Windows without the recovery CD. The problem is that I don't have Windows CD(the laptop came with the OS installed by Lenovo) and I was stupid enough not to make recovery cd's.
So if I use for example another copy of Windows with the key found in the bottom of the machine will it work?

Surprising thing is the user was having the same problem with exact same machine and your user name (well not exact but "dimcho").dim wrote:Thanks for the replies. It hasn't been me in MS TechNet....snip
