Wireless driver corrupts OS Network Connections?

I have a Lenovo 3000 N100 laptop with Windows XP Home Edition. The other day my Think Vantage Update recommended that I upgrade my wireless card (Intel Pro 3945ABG) driver. Big mistake! Somehow the upgrade messed with my modem (Agere Systems HDA modem) where I would get a code 720 after it dialed twice. (Sometimes I still have to use a modem) I checked Lenovo's website and upgraded the driver for the modem with no luck of solving the problem!! I know for a fact it is not the ISP software for accessing the web.

I have to admit I've done this upgrade a while back and ran into the same problem. I know it is funny; however, it sucks! The last time this happened I had to go through Microsoft and Lenovo Rescue and recovery ^@@ to restore the system. Three days of bars and percentages of loading programs!

Has anyone experienced this problem with this upgrade? If so, is there an alternative to repairing a corrupt network connections without having to go through Rescue and recovery mode. I don't even have a product recovery disk to repair the OS either. This is a lesson well learnt!!!

Do you have Access Connections installed?

If you create Restore Points in Windows then you can go back to the time when everything was working.

See if the following helps you:

"Error 720" Error Message When You Try to Establish a Dial-Up Connection to the Internet

Warning side ads on the following page are not safe for work or children but there is a possible solution: (I've noticed the ad changes everytime you click the link)

Error 720.

If service partition is still intact then you can create a set of product recovery disks yourself:

Click Start > All Programs > Lenovo Care and then click Create Recovery Media.
