#1 Post by wisydude » Wed Jan 30, 2008 5:12 pm

Hi,
I have a lenovo 3000 c200 laptop with Windows XP Home. The HDD is 80 G. I would like to make a new partition, dividing my HDD into two parts. Which software shall i use? What should i pay attention to?

PartitionMagic works great with Windows XP. But if you're looking for a freeware then give Gparted or PartedMagic a try.

If you still have hidden partition intact then don't move it, that's the thing to pay most attention to.

just to make it sure: after downloading Gparted Live CD and made a boot from there, it would work. Is it correct?

Yes, Gparted website also gives detailed information with screenshots:

Documentation.

Look under "Resizing partitions with GParted".
