I have a Lenovo 3000 C100. I left it on a comforter for about 10 hours. It was closed, but not shut down. Now nothing happens when I try to use it--the screen is blank, there are no beeps, no fan sounds, etc. The power lights in the front all work and removing and replacing the battery doesn't do anything. From what I hear, it's likely that the fan was blocked by the blanket and it overheated. Does that mean the motherboard and/or CPU should be replaced? The computer is almost 2 years old and the warranty has expired. I've thought about just getting a new computer, but would like to know whether this one is fixable.

If the motherboard or CPU should be replaced (and please let me know which one), where could I buy a replacement part? I haven't been able to find these parts online, but I could be looking for the wrong thing or in the wrong places. A friend can replace the part if I get it. I'm obviously not too technically savvy, so go easy on me.

Hi: The machine is supposed to shutdown before there can be any damage. There are temperature sensors to do that. Having said that, I have seen a large number of lenovo 3000 machines with problems that look like overheating. I have 2 partially taken apart and I am going to try to replace the power regulator chip to see if that helps. Here is something you can try. Unplug the machine and remove the main battery. Press the power button 5 times, holding it down for 10 seconds the last time. Put it back together and try again.
