Well....it finally arived!
After going through winter storms in washington my G585 finally arived today.
I am going to review following:
-----------------------------------------
-Looks
-Build Quality
-Perfomance [NON 3D]
-3D Performance
-Heat/Power/Battery Life
-----------------------------------------

SPECS:
-----------------------------------------
CPU: AMD E2-1800 Dual Core @1.70GHz
GPU: AMD Radeon HD7340 IGP
RAM: 4GB DRR3 PC-1333 Dual Chanel
HDD: WD 320GB 5400RPM SATA
OS: Window 7 [it was a pain to get Windows 7 drivers - since it comes with Win 8]

======================================================
Looks:

When I first opened the box I was surprised by the great looks of the unit.
It doesn't make it exactly look like a business Laptop but it sure is a hot machine.
Its Glossy everywhere except on the botom.
It has well elevated rubber feet, which protect from scratchers .
Talking about scratches - I wouldn't rreally recommend this as a travel computer, since I have the feeling that the glossy parts easily scratch up.
The screen is much brighter than other laptop under $400 and picture quality is good.
Only thing bothering me is the glossy screen - i hate reflections haha.
It has 2x USB 3.0 and a HDMI which is nice - also VGA, Card REader, Webcam and a USB 2.0
Also a LAN port + Headphone/Mic - Combo jack.

Build Quality:

To my surprise this thing feels rock solid -although lacking the rollcage the bottom base seems to be very thick plastic - I haven't opened the unit up (yet) so I don't know if Lenovo has added some kind of support - I did read in major reviews (notebookcheck for example) that Lenovo has improved Build Quality on the G585 compared to the older G575.
The laptop does look and feel like a scratch magnet so a soft sleeve/laptop bag is a must if you want to keep the good looks of the G585 - but I don't recommend it as a travel laptop.
The keyboard is the best I haved typed on on a sub $400 laptop/netbook.
Still not as good as a thinkpad keyboard though.
The hinges don't look like the thoughest but are still nice and tight.
There are no known Hardware problems with the Fusion Series.

Performance [NON 3D]:

Eqiped with a low power AMD Dual Core @ 1.7GHz and 4GB of RAM surfing, streaming 1080p on youtube (the HD7340 helps decoding) and playing browser games is all smooth.
Running a 1080p pure CPU (without GPU acceleration) intense flash animation gives me about 20-25FPS but most of the times the GPU will help decoding give you much higher frames.
Multitasking feels much smoother than on a Intel Atom Dual Core with 2 threads each core.
I am able to do a Virus scan while copying files and watching a HD video without any noticable delays/slow downs in any of the tasks.

3D Performace:

I AM SHOCKED!
This laptop performs better in Games and 3D rendering than my Core i5 + HD Graphics!!!!
See for yourself: (video comming)

Resident Evil 5: 1366x768 - MAX TEXTUR QUALITY - MEDIUM DETAIL - 46-72FPS
Battlefield 3: 1366x768 - ALL MEDIUM - 28-51FPS!!! WOW
GTA IV: 1366x768 - ALL MEDIUM - 23-42FPS
Diablo 3: 1366x768 - ALL MEDIUM/HIGH - 39-67FPS

#1 BUDGET GAMING LAPTOP!!!
TOO BAD I DONT HAVE ALOT OF TIME TO PLAY GAMES ANY MORE!!!

More tests and Videos comming soon!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hope this helps some people!!!
Nice day yall!! :)

I am glad to hear that you don't regret your purchase, but as I mentioned before, we don't even know for sure that Lenovo actually designed this laptop. Instead, it could have been designed by one of the manufacturers such as Compal and Quanta.

And I was under the impression AMD was out of the game by now... They still have what it takes it seems. And suddenly my great choice to stay with Intel wasnt so great anymore. I just bought a G580 myself, thinking the HD4000 was the best integrated chip there is. Cant really complain, SWTOR, Skyrim and APB works fine. I'm satisfied...

The G series are pretty solid machines, even if they lack the classic Thinkpad build quality.

I just bought a Lenovo G580 recently. I've only had it for about a week.

VERY nice laptop for the money (Newegg for $499.99, regularly $550). It's the newest G580 model with the 2.6GHz (3.2 Turbo) 3230m Core i5, 4GB of RAM (Upgraded it to 8 right off the bat) and a 500GB HD. Since I don't do any gaming (Except occasional Sims), the HD4000 graphics are wonderful, and play HD video flawlessly.

I was shopping for laptops for quite a while, and narrowed it down to this one. I had heard that even though the non-ThinkPad Lenovos don't have ThinkPad quality, they are very sturdy and reliable compared to most other consumer laptops. My Dad and sister have the B575 models that aren't too bad.

So far I am enjoying it. Windows 8 was very awkward at first, but once I installed Stardock's Start8, I felt more at home.
