I've moved from an X61s running Win XP to an IdeaPad Y510p running Win 8. I'm trying to find the utility that updates the drivers, equivalent to my experience with Thinkvantage System Update on the X61s. I've looked in the user guide, the Lenovo program folder, but don't see it.

Using your 7 digit machine type ID, go to Lenovo's support site, enter the info and click on Drivers and Software. It's under ThinkVantage Technology.

Looking for the machine type ID. According to the Lenovo web site, IdeaPad IDs should be on the back on a label. Don't see it.

Should be on a white label on the bottom of your laptop. You can also find it on the first screen in BIOS. Hit F1 to get into BIOS.

OK, found the info printed on the plastic under the battery pack, which has to be removed to see. Kind of weird. But, have the program installed. Thanks for the help.
