Lenovo G580 CPU upgrade
Since 3 years ago, I was bought G580 with Celeron B830, 2gb ddr3 ram memory and hdd 320 gb inside. RAM memory is upgraded to 8gb, hdd replaced with SSD and CPU was replaced with i3 2310m.
My question is: Which CPU is the best for install in this notebook?

Re: Lenovo G580 CPU upgrade
Nothing, but i want to upgrade this notebook to his maximum because I can find CPU's for small price in my country.
Re: Lenovo G580 CPU upgrade
Fairly certain it can take a i7-3612. I have a i7-3610 in my Edge E530 with the same chipset. Its operating under a barely controlled meltdown so gi with the 3612 instead. It runs cooler.
It takes ivy bridge fine. No issues if you have the newest bios. My old G580 has a i3-3110m.

Re: Lenovo G580 CPU upgrade
if chipset number starts with 6, like hm65, then Core i7-2640M, is the fastest 35w.
if chipset number starts with 7, like hm77, then Core i7-3632qm, is the fastest 35w.

Re: Lenovo G580 CPU upgrade
I was found somewhere in lenovo support forum, that supported cpu's are Celeron B, i3 2nd series and i5 3rd series (i5 3210m for example). Intel i7 is not announced on this forum.
It will be very good if this cpu can be installed on my G580.
I found used i7 3610qm for 100 eur. TDP 45 watt. This cpu has 4 cores and 8 threads.

Re: Lenovo G580 CPU upgrade
please note that if the chipset is hm70, it will not accept anything higher than pentium and celeron processors.
any 45w processor is likely to produce too much heat, so you are better of finding a good 35w one.

Re: Lenovo G580 CPU upgrade
Now I have i3 2310m with 35 watt TDP. CPU works fine, without overheating. Heatsink is cool after all day hard work.
Re: Lenovo G580 CPU upgrade
I have the same I3-3110M 2.40 GHz CPU with NVIDIA GeForce 610M GPU, WD 500 GB SATA HDD and a $ GB DDR3 RAM. Please suggest me the best upgradable option for my PC.DaKKS wrote: ↑Sat Feb 20, 2016 8:32 pmFairly certain it can take a i7-3612. I have a i7-3610 in my Edge E530 with the same chipset.
