B50-45
B50-45
Admins please move me if I'm in the wrong location it's kind of hard to tell where this should go we don't really have a section for B series thinkpads just yet.
I'm picking you up a used b50 - 45 with the AMD A6 6310 and r4 graphics. I know you can put 16 gigs of ram in this thing but is there a better Wi-Fi card? Lenovo owners manual for the series doesn't provide much info

Re: B50-45
Looks like you are right - the forum labeling is not clear for the various non-Thinkpad Lenovo series. I'll see what can be done.
Thinkpad 25 (20K7), T490 (20N3), Yoga 14 (20FY), T430s (IPS FHD + Classic Keyboard), X220 4291-4BG

Re: B50-45
Okay so I picked up the laptop today and I tried swapping over the 16 gigs ram that I had in my x230t and it threw it into a bootloop. I've tried resetting the CMOS and it's not working.

Re: B50-45
An update: the administrators have decided to clear up the confusion by merging all non-Thinkpad Lenovo laptops to a single forum, and I moved your thread to this forum.
Is this a single stick or two sticks?

Re: B50-45
Thanks for the update. I have 2x8 16GB ddr3l PC3 12800 Mushkin essentials. I tried today one stick at a time in each slot to no avail. Both sticks work fine at full 16gb in my X230t but it isn't compatible with my B50-45 for whatever reason

Re: B50-45
Is that 1Rx8 or 2Rx8 memory?

I'm not sure I get your meaning. It's a matching set of 2. 2x8gb Muskin Essentials 16gb ddr3L pc3-12800

Re: B50-45
1Rx8 or 2Rx8 stand for memory ranks. 1Rx8 module will have 8 memory chips (4 per side), and 2Rx8 will have 16 memory chips (8 per side).
I don't know how your B50-45 handles 1R or 2R modules, but some systems behave exactly as you described (bootloops, no boot at all, BSOD if eventually manages to load windows) if you insert the "wrong" ones.
Please see the difference between two Samsung modules of the same size (ignore the voltage and speed difference):

Re: B50-45
Well I'm selling it. It's a good basic laptop but I'm not willing to invest in upgrades.
