S10 vs Eee

Hi all,
i know i will have a biased answer here but, hey, i'm biased too..
I currently own an X41 and like it from the first day.
However its time to go for something a little smaller.
The specs on S10 and Asus Eee1000 looks similar,
Asus is current market leader and they have in stock.
However i like the ibm brand (even thou its not ibm anymore),
i'm sure it will be sturdier, durable and better keyboard than Asus,
but they do not have in stock, and don't know when it will be available.
Should i wait till xmas for ibm, curse and buy asus if they cant come up with production till then.
And hope it will be worth it as its not reviewed anywhere or buy Asus now as it is a tested machine and instant delivery?
Oh, do you think S10 might have a model with trackpoint..

There is an Asus EEE PC forum at
http://forum.eeeuser.com They have a category for 'other devices' and they talk about the Lenovo Ideapad S10.
I have an IBM Thinkpad T23 and I have an Assus EEE PC . I hope to one day to get an Lenovo Ideapad S10.

I have an EEE PC 1000, an Acer One, and a MS Wind.
On day one, I ordered an IdeaPad S10 the minute they appeared on the Lenovo site, complete with eCoupon.
As a long time IBM/Lenovo business customer, I just happened to have an opportunity to try an S10 and much to my delight, it is hands down the clear winner in the Netbook category. Nothing else comes remotely close. Once you have tried an IdeaPad S10, everything else is rubbish.
Cheers!
Be patient, the wait is more than worth it...

Thats what i wanted to hear archer6, thanks.
I hope Asus N10 will be available at the same time with S10.
But there was direct competitors from other brands to my X41 back than and i bought ibm, i think history will repeat itself..

I know, I know, as a fellow TrackPoint addict, I must say that it's absence is glaring. However it IS an IdeaPad after all. Not a ThinkPad. And as is painfully obvious, everything is a compromise, thus I say for my money the overall superiority of the IdeaPad S10 as compared to the competition is such that I can overlook not having a track point. Also I must remind myself these (Netbooks) are more like appliances anyway. Or devices to be kind. Remember these are a far cry from a full blown laptop such as the World Class X series ThinkPad! Clearly a niche product they do what they were do what they were designed to do and little else.
Let's face it price aside (which also could be argued as the same, feature for feature, the ThinkPads having so many more features) When one compares the very small amount of size & weight difference between a NetBook and an X ThinkPad, it's simply no contest. Nothing beats an X series ThinkPad.

S30..... ahhhh yes a mighty fine ThinkPad that one is. I forgot all about them. A very unique design a true departure from the usual "BlackBox" that comprise modern day ThinkPads. Too bad they were not readily available in the US years ago, when they were new. I should have flown to Japan to pick one up ....
Cheers!

As for S10 versus Eee PC, S10 has 10" 1024x600 which is rather low res in this category. HP Mininote is still the best with 1280x768 8.9" screen. I'd prefer S9 over S10 if it was smaller.

I certainly agree with you regarding resolution. However in my case I'm using a Netbook just for fun, nothing serious.
Cheers!
