In typical fashion, some people that enjoy bashing Lenovo, made a big deal out of what was essentially nothing more than a very few early production units with bad fans. I have a friend that got one of those, Lenovo issued an RMA and sent him a replacement S10 that is completely silent.

My experience has been simply stellar and I cannot say enough good things about this little gem. I have never paid so little and received so much. The build quality is amazing, from the moment I took it out of the box six months ago until now, I still marvel at how nice it is. I chose the model that is all black in color and it's very classy looking. The keyboard is amazing with it's typical solid high quality feel being every bit as good as my best ThinkPads. I know that I sound like a walking commercial for them but it's true. Mine being the first generation came with 512mb ram, an 80GB hard drive and Win XP. I increased the memory to 2GB after experiencing how relatively fast it is. Then I set it up as a dual boot machine with both XP and Ubuntu Hardy Heron. Once that was done now its even more fun as it boots into Linux lightning fast and Ubuntu really performs well. The only reason I kept XP is for Outlook and BlackBerry desktop mgr as I found I use the S10 far more than I originally intended. So there are lots of pros and quite honestly no cons (at least for me) therefore I highly endorse the S10.
Cheers...

Edit:
As someone who detests using a TouchPad I must say this one is excellent and fun to use. Frankly I'm eating my words on this one and my friends love to tease me about it....heh!
